14th Saint on IR for season

Falcons had seasons like that in 05 as well. No excuses. Good teams overcome it.

That can be true, but I don't put as much stock in it as others.

When you look at the teams that make playoffsand/or the Super Bowl, you'll find in the majority of cases the teams that are the healthiest tend to be the ones that hang around over teams with arguably more talent, better coaching, etc.

No, it's not an excuse, but to utterly discount the effect of injuries is ludicrous.

I do agree but the Saints weren't doing anything special before these guys went on IR was my main point.

I don't know...I mean when we had that problem in '04 what was once a Super Bowl team was turned into a shell...if not for some fantastic play by Delhomme and Muhammed having his best season ever, (and Nick Goings of course) then we'd've probably gone like 1-15. We went 7-9 anyway. :rolleyes5:

    • If you think Smith's hating on McMillian or tall recievers you didn't watch the video. He may have been guilty of that in the past but he says outright that his problem is people see a tall reciever and tend to overlook everything else about him. He was complimentary and believes the guy will pan out. His only real criticism was comparing Tetairoa to himself actually, saying like he felt like he took plays off when he wasn't the primary target.
    • I loved this draft. I think we have 3 starters out our first three picks. Maybe they take a year to develop but I don’t see them taking long.    I think Etiene is going to be a good back up. He’s only 20 so he has a lot to improve on.  I think we will see him be used on special teams this year. He won’t get many reps unless an injury happens because we got two 1,000 yard rb in front of him. I could see Ransom starting but I think he will probably be a back up, maybe playing special teams? I think hes probably got the lowest ceiling of all our drafted players. Cam Jackson will be a back up, probably not a lot of snaps this year. Could end up being a solid player for us.   I love the Mitchell Evans pick. He’s got potential to be our top TE. He had two different injuries that set him back in college but I think if he was healthy he would have been one of the top TE in the draft. I have even more faith in him because ND makes great tight ends. I don’t know if he will play much this year unless an injury happens though. Probably just a blocking TE this year.
