I know it's ESPN, and we all know just how great the minds at ESPN are, but how could Smitty not be considered on this list for WR? Triple Crown of receiving, anyone? Can you imagine if Smitty had Brady or Manning throwing to him with LT in his prime running the ball? Single man coverage all day for Smitty would result in multiple 1800 yard seasons I think. Yes this is homer speak, but I think it's an argument with some merit.

ya... Smitty is great... on to something much MORE important

I wonder if that cheerleader in your avatar knows that she has the most famous TopCat booty in Panther nation??

I would very much like to ask her in person. Alone. In the dark.

Smitty came into the league in 2001, wasn't an elite reciever till 2003.

a decade consists of 10 years. Of which Smith has been dominating for what? 5.

All those picks are more consistent and have been really good throughout the entirety of the decade.

Smith is great, but it's obvious why he's not on this list.

marvin harrison 2000-2006 missed starting in 2 games

started 96 regular season games

probowl every year

all-pro twice

one ring

future HOFer

89 TDs (14.83 per season)

9556 yards (1593 per season, just under 100 yards per game)

711 receptions (118.5 per season, 7.4 per game)

torry holt 2000-2007

118 regular season games

7 probowls

all-pro once

one ring

future HOFer

65 TDs (9 per season)

11,276 yards (1610 per season, just over 95 yards per game)

753 receptions (107.6 per season, 6.4 per game)

now...

steve smith 2001 - 2008

started 85 regular season games

4 probowls

2 all pros

no rings

future HOFer?

43 TDs (6 per season) (49TDs including returns...but we're looking at receivers, not returners)

7348 yards (1050 per season, 86 per game) (11,372 including return yards but we're looking at receivers not returners)

509 receptions (72.7 per season, 6 per game)

smitty is great and my favorite WR and one of my favorite players of all time, but i'm not going to argue and say that he has accomplished more than these two guys and deserves the designation of "WRs of the decade" over these guys.

With that logic though, I guess you could only consider Harrison dominant for 2000-2006 though. 07 and 08 he's been hurt or garbage. I respect what your saying, I'm simply saying had the Colts drafte Smitty in '01, he IMHO would have way better numbers than Harrison. Harrison is/was no doubt an all-time great wideout, but the things Smitty has done with Jake throwing to him make it all the more impressive in my book.

Torry Holt has had at least 1200 yards every year (1188 one year, 1189 in another, but close enough) since 2000 though. That is complete dominance. So I will give him the nod for sure.
