Bobcats hire Rob Werdann as assistant coach

Recommended Posts

The Charlotte Bobcats today added Rob Werdann as an assistant coach on the staff of Head Coach Paul Silas. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Werdann brings eight seasons experience as either an assistant coach or a scout on the NBA level. He spent last season as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors, after serving as an assistant coach for the New Orleans Hornets in 2009-10. Prior to that, Werdann served as an advance scout for the Hornets from 2004-09. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Yakima Sun Kings in the CBA in 2000-01, before spending three seasons as an assistant coach with the Columbus Riverdragons of the NBA Development League from 2001-04.

Since we are hiring almost every single GSW coach, can we at least try to steal some of their talent like Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry, or David Lee.

That means the end of Oakley unfortunately.

Yeah, I read about it on RufusOnFire and the original poster said "This doesn't necessarily mean the end of Charles Oakley" and I thought to myself, now you're just in denial, why would they add a higher payroll to the staff instead of the team roster. Obviously it means someone is gone and that someone is Oakley. I hope he rehabs and is somehow able to get his back to at least 80 to 90 percent where he could possibly have the itch to come back and coach again.

I credit Oak with the transforming of Kwame Brown from trash to antique that you really don't want to throw away yet.

Rick Bonnell reported earlier that this doesn't necessarily mean Oakley is gone. According to Silas, they had to hire someone else in the event Oakley doesn't come back due to back surgery. There still appears to be some uncertainty about that. This was from today's article:
