Wait until the combine

how many DE's do we need? are we going to play 4 of them on the line at once?

how many top 3 rd. choices are we going to sink in a DE before finally fixing the real problem up the middle?

Hardy, Brown, Johnson are all capable of much more will a little help up the middle. they are young and still learning the posistion. getting another guy in there just cuts into playing time / development of the guys we already have on the roster.

there are way too many needs on a team like this to take a DE #1

We could get another playmaker at DE in Bowers and draft a DT like Marvin Austin or Jurrell Casey in the third. I still like Peterson or Green at number 1 though but I'm sure I will be thinking something different by the combine....

I'll take Quinn over Bowers every day of the week

Me too. People forget how good Quinn was since he didn't play this year. He BROKE Pepper's lineman 40 time at 4.38 and he has more heart.

Here is what SI said about him this past April:

1) Robert Quinn*/DE/North Carolina: Quinn comes from the Julius Peppers mold and is a sensational defender who constantly makes plays behind the line of scrimmage.

2) Ryan Mallett*/QB/Arkansas: The strong-armed pocket passer would have been a first-round pick had he entered this year's draft. He'll be the first signal-caller selected and a top-10 pick.

3) Julio Jones*/WR/Alabama: The Tide's game-breaking receiver has a terrific combination of size and speed.

Bowers:

19) Da'Quan Bowers*/DE/Clemson: He's a talented defensive end who teases scouts with his potential. He flashes big-time ability then disappears for stretches. His draft stock will fluctuate over the next 12 months.

true, not saying i would be upset with the pick. I think you can make an argument for any of the top 10 guys right now. this team needs a lot of improvement on both sides of the ball.

it all is really going to depend on the new coach. but it would be very hard not to try and improve a record setting worst offense with some of the top picks.

Personally i think Peterson would be a good pick in the top 5 if we could move down a little. Marshall is going to walk, and captain isnt going to be a #2 in our division. plus he would give some legit credit to the return game. pickup some solid FA DT's and the defense would get a lot better in a hurry.

by trading down we may be able to pick up another first rounder and get pouncey as a RG.

Johnson has to be resigned first. And who knows if and when that will happen. May need a new DE
