and Bowers runs a 4.4 40 standing at 6 foot 5 275 lbs, throws up 225 30 times, and jumps like a cb...Ill be foaming at the mouth for this kid. And if i recall I liked him better then Luck and posted a poll about it 4 weeks ago. If we take Newton it will be the story of VY compared to Mario Williams...Sign Palmer when he gets cut...Taking Bowers and franchising Johnson, along with Hardy and Brown...Sign a some beef up the middle, Thomas Davis comes back...Now your looking at arguably the best Dline and line backing core in football. Palmer although in consistent can get the ball out to Gettis deep, and make all the throws for our style of offense.

And wht Dt would you like to take NUMBER 1 overall? That would be by far the worst choice for the franchise EVER! Unless its Suh potential I dont want it unless its the 2nd round or lower...Never pay aDT that kind of money.

Nick Fairley is ranked just below Bowers on most draft boards and has the chance to pass him with a good showing in the championship I suspect.

I really hope Palmer isn't integral to that theory of yours because that isn't happening.

Why sign someone to 'beef up' the middle when you can just draft the player? Our ends are already the strength of the line.

our end, singular, is the strength of the line.

from Vernon Gholston's combine profile:

Gholston has a relentless motor in pursuit. If he had more on-field experience, he could be an outstanding linebacker at the next level. However, with teams looking for hybrid Cover-2 pass rushers, he is perfectly capable of impacting the backfield coming off the edge or dropping back into the zone to cover vs. the pass. He is still a raw talent that gets by on his athletic ability, but in a few years, with patient coaching and more experience, he has the potential to change the game, much like Abraham, Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis) and Jason Taylor (Miami) have done playing in that role.

    • I always get lectured every year when we inevitably win some meaningless late season games to tank our draft position that we're building culture and you always have to try to win no matter what. This is why that's bullshit. Once you're out of contention it's to your competitive advantage to LOSE.
    • You’re tripping I hear what you’re saying but you’re not thinking of the benefits that trade gives us. We can then move around in the second round or late in the first to grab a specific player we covet like M Starks late in the 1st. Let me clarify if we’re at 21 we grab W Nolen or K Grant then trade up late in the 1 or early in the second giving up next years second for M Starks or T Amos there so much that can happen with that additional ammo.  Allowing us still so much leverage in next years draft as well with two first rounders we’d be dam crazy not to take a trade like that it’s not the big haul or heavy amount of picks we’re hoping for but it’s gets us multiple players especially ones we’ve seemed to taken a liking to like Nolen etc along with the safety from SC. or even a Luther B or James P early in the second. This nice influx in talent would help way more than a player like Jalon W. because of his high bust rate or probability  to bust….you know what I mean.  We need players we all know that those extra picks allow us to give up something this year to add key pieces from the 29-40 range that we may really like and have a need for (T Amos) and it not hurt as much because we’re stacked in round one of 26. Which could also be a pick one trade one scenario next year giving us more ammo to manipulate the draft to a winning situation for us long term. Al that to say we desperately need to be actively seeking a trade because we could add real talent in multiple spots this year and next with that current trade your opposing.
    • According to their list, the top guy hasn't put out a mock yet and the 2nd guy has us trading to 4 for Carter.
