Panthers/Fox/Delhomme Super in the Dome

One of the main motivating factors will be the opportunity to have the first-round bye. Players would love the break and the automatic berth in the NFC semifinals. It would give them some time to refuel and heal after a highly charged December schedule.

It probably helps that quarterback Jake Delhomme was admittedly angry and frustrated after the loss to the Giants and now gets to face his former team near his hometown of Breaux Bridge, La.

Delhomme is undefeated (4-0) as a road starter against New Orleans, and Fox (6-0) never has lost an away game to the Saints as the Panthers' coach.

New Orleans is eliminated from the playoffs and has nothing to play for other than to finish with a winning record and complicate Carolina's post-season hopes.

After coming so close to beating the Giants, the Panthers' mission is to avoid the letdown that could so easily derail them.
