totally agree, they need to Prepare the Roster by loading up on talent they can trade away to move up for a QB after they lock themselves in QB purgatory it’s time we try this fresh new approach

A QB in the 1st round isn’t a risk, it’s an almost mathematical prerequisite for finding a franchise QB. Yes they can turn out bad but so can the LB or S that people are going to clamor for.

BREAKING: Panthers turning down trade interest in other players
Growl replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
they leak this every time they give a player away for nothing there’s a reason for it: when you foster an identity as a soft negotiating team it makes it harder and harder to dig your heels in. they just keep giving in though. -
they would have been better off keeping him. could’ve at least gotten a more honest appraisal of Canales offense, how Legette plays against against single coverage, and a no excuses sink or swim card for whomever they have at QB we’re just in the business of helping guys out.

yeah op is a weird revisionist history . Offensive line is performing at a high level. They have the requisite amount of skill players. No superstars but certainly enough to win. It may have taken offloading some defensive talent to reinforce the offense but you can’t fix everything in one offseason and if you’re going to choose what to invest in in this league you’re always going to pick offense over defense and recent games compared to what the panthers have been since Cam hurt his shoulder are the demonstration of why. I mean it’s also an overreaction to the defense playing poorly. They had 7 starters out Sunday. There’s not a team in the league that has the depth to just weather the storm on that. Conversely you’d like a QB that doesn’t throw the ball away late. Andy Dalton has been Andy Dalton (the kind of QB okay the OP is advocating for) and it’s cost the team two games.

Panthers Tankathon (Week 6 Edition)
Growl replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The panthers didn’t tank for the first pick and they would’ve been a whole lot better off if they did I don’t know why watching the team limp to five wins each season feels like such a payoff of your hard earned money I’d much rather they pull the band aid off, get the first pick and make the right selection as other teams have. -
I heard yall wanted Bryce to bulk up this offseason
Growl replied to thebdawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Torque comes from the lower body. Little bit of upper body strength is going to help when he’s off platform but more often than not you wanna throw from a set base, that’s where your energy is coming from. Give him a clean pocket and a developed comfort level behind it and he’ll be fine, as he always as. there’s nothing about this that doesn’t translate -
a road divisional game to start the season and two road divisional games to conclude it lol i like the nfl aggressively pushes for the desired outcomes with zero shame

Why Corbett (and Brady Christensen) will make good Centers

they aren’t learning it mid game -

you can teach a child to snap a football mid-game and be fine, it’s wild that there are people who are breaking down over them “having to learn it” -
in the 3rd round you’re almost universally getting high floor low ceiling or high ceiling floor types. I wouldn’t have minded a low impact position where one of the top guys was still on the board, but some would argue that’s exactly what off ball LB is and to that end it seems like a lot of the evaluations sites had him a top 3 or 4 off ball guy in this class i mean it’s not the e most enthralled I’ve ever been with a pick but I’ll wait and see where it goes before lambasting it

The Panthers keep making the same mistakes under new GM.
Growl replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
well I haven’t seen the analytics but he sure looked like he was getting separation as South Carolina used him effectively underneath. separation means different things at different levels of the field and the closer you are to the line of scrimmage the less difficult it is to do. Canales has already talked about all this but even prior to that it was obvious form his skill set that he was going to be running jets, drags, overs, slants, quick outs. These aren’t master class routes and most of the time they’re done with run concepts anyways to get the ball out quick and get your best ball carrier moving down field clean. Leggette has been billed by this board elsewhere as the vertical field stretcher who high points the ball down field and whereas he’s certainly demonstrated that as a tool I don’t think it’s going to be where they work him in as he develops. They’ll throw him the ball down field a few times to keep the defense on their literal toes but I imagine they’ll probably use him more as a weapon nearer to the line of scrimmage earlier while he develops his intermediate game. -

“Guys we’ve been bad, how could you possibly argue we’ve needed more quality long snapper play? see how the argument doesn’t work -

wait you believe the panthers have been bad because of mediocre center play? seems like you’re making my broader point about overvaluing the impact the position has
