You asked me a couple of weeks ago would I pick up his 5th year option. I didn't answer because I wasn't sure. He would have to really ball out these last 7 games. If he can manage to get us to 8 or 9 wins, I would say yes, they will pick up his option. I read where we have the most difficult remaining schedule. I don't want almost wins like we had last year against KC and Philly, I want wins. We are going to have to beat TB at least once and beat at least one of the NFC-W teams.

Bryce Young every time I give up on him
DaveThePanther2008 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm pulling for him, but I am not going to get sucked in again as our future QB. I want him to continue to get better, but he has to show that it's not once or twice a season he has a stellar game. Atlanta is a mess and we seem to have their number. Last year we went toe to toe with KC and Philly but ended up losing. We have the Seahawks, 9ers and Rams coming up. We have to win at least one of those games to consider ourselves turning the corner. Not to mention we have to beat TBx2 and NO. Show me a couple of good wins and we'll go from there. -
He was battered but would not quit. That's leadership. I can guarantee that the players picked it up a notch with Young's toughness.

DaveThePanther2008 started following Young's Toughness

We've seen several starting QBs go down this season. Young took a beating yesterday but kept coming back for more. Win or lose he gain a lot of my respect just for coming back. I did not want to see Dalton come in. You can hate his skills but there is no way you can argue about his toughness.

It was a wise pick. T-Mac may be in the OROY running. Had we taken a defensive player we don't end up with Scourton, who IMO is going to be a STUD in the years to come. I remember the conversation they had early in the draft. We aren't going to get a Top WR and the draft had plenty of good defensive players in the 2nd round. T-Mac will be an All-Pro very soon.

Bryce Young every time I give up on him

Amazing game. Canales has to learn from this game. Bryce connected with 9 different receivers on some pretty great throws. I thought Coker really stepped up this week. He had been MIA since he came back but had some really nice catches. XL when we thought he was dead showed a glimmer of hope. Bryce owns Tremble a huge steak dinner because that Beast-Mode catch and run was epic. That pass put him past Cam. Back to Canales. Yes, we are a running team, but he has to open it up to make defenses protect more than the running game. It seemed to me we had a gameplan to spread the ball around. Though we had less than 100 yds rushing they were not going to let Rico get lose. Rico ran hard every play and that was enough to keep the Falcons concerned. I was thoroughly disappointed after last week and like many other, had given up on Bryce. I am still thinking we need a QB that can use the whole field but, if we cannot find one than Canales needs to do better in game-to-game game planning. -

I would love to win this game just because it is the Falcons and beating them is always a great thing. London is supposed to play so Horn will have his work cut out for him. He torched us last time. Fortunately, we controlled the game. Go Panthers -
Unless something has changed over the past week. I do not see us controlling the game like we did in week 3. Atlanta, though out of the playoffs, is playing much better than we are. Plus it is in Atlanta. I am not holding any hope of winning this game.

ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Panthers QB situation
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let's not forget that SF gave up 3 #1s to get him. You don't quit on a player you give 3 huge picks for because he has one or two bad games. Purdy is the only reason SF doesn't look totally stupid. -

When he did, he looked lost. He was always ready to run with the ball. He was terrible. Let's not think he's just been overlooked. He played terrible when he played. -

Lance would be an interesting pick up. After being a backup for several years he's probably matured. It's just a matter of whether he can lead a team without terrible mistakes that he had with the 49ers. -
Come on, there are several options available. Speculate. Kind of dodging the question. I can probably surmise that anyone you mention will have as many issues as any I bring up. BTW you talk about Gunslinger mentality is something you don't want. I recall we had our own gunslinger that took us to the Super Bowl. Remember Jake Delhomme?
-
Young will be here in 2026 but I seriously doubt they pick up his option. He's not worth the big money they would have to give him for the 5th year.
-
I doubt they pick up his option. He'll be backup next season. We have to address this position either through the draft or Free Agency.
