kiper doesn't think panthers should take tackle at 28

You add talent period. It's not like Shazier wouldn't get on the field. There's no guarantee TD is even here this time next year.

exactly, add talent needs to be at other positions as well. that is part of the reason why this team has depth issues because of of bpa at positions that where already stacked up. this team would have 3 LBs drafted in the 1st round if Shaizer is the pick, to go along with 2 RBs drafted in the 1st.

You don't reach for a lesser prospect just because of the position he plays. I would much rather get the best 53 football players ready to go on September 8th. Sounds like Gettleman feels the same way too.

I am not a Bell hater, but i am still realistic, Bell is a good and cheap backup, but he is not a starter.

And by the way, who's going to be our second OT?

So we have no other option we need 2 OT in this draft, the higher the better.

Tell the FO and coaching staff that. They aren't going to depend on 2 rookies to protect the franchise and they shouldn't. I don't know any team that would want to start 2 rookies at tackle. Specially where we are picking.

They are pushing Bell and people need to get ready for that.

but you do take bpa no matter what position they play. we do not know what Gettleman will do, so saying is reaching. he may claim bpa will be taken, but based off 1 draft you do not know that. every GM will state whoever they picked was the bpa on their board.

I'm basing it off Voth's comments. Safe to say he's getting legit info from somewhere in regards to the Panthers.

Kiper may be onto something here. The Tackles available at 28 may either project better as RT's or Guards in the NFL. Meanwhile we could find a solid receiver who could immediately be a number 2 with potential to develop into a number 1 down the road at 28.

How many franchise LT's in the game today made it to 28 in the draft?

Here I'll save you some time. Joe Staley fell to 28 in 07 and Jason Peters went undrafted all together.

you can tell what position folks are lobbying for just by how they respond in this thread. Those wanting an OL in the first are touting a bunch of guys at the 28 slot. Those wanting a WR don't think anyone will be a good value pick at that slot .

Truth is that there will be very good players at many positions at that slot with the same holding true when we pick at 60 and beyond. With all the teams in college who play at a high level and have a left tackle, it is hard to believe that there are only 5 or 6 who could start in the NFL.

Well even Cam wants a WR.

Never understood the hate for kiper this board churns out every year. The man is a analyst not a psychic or fortune teller. Everyone misses and everyone nails a sleeper here and there. But no one has done more for the nfl draft than mel kiper. Safe to say we wouldn't be watching or probably talking draft without him. There would be no mcshays or mayocks or anyone else that we all follow for draft into. Mel kiper is draft season the godfather.
