kiper doesn't think panthers should take tackle at 28

Would be nice if one of those tackles fall to us. Can't imagine 5 of them selected in the 1st round before we pick. That's crazy. Every team think a tackle can save their mediocre team by giving those immobile QBs all day to throw.

you can tell what position folks are lobbying for just by how they respond in this thread.  Those wanting an OL in the first  are touting a bunch of guys at the 28 slot.  Those wanting a WR don't think anyone will be a good value pick at that slot .

Truth is that there will be very good players at many positions at that slot with the same holding true when we pick at 60 and beyond.  With all the teams in college who play at a high level and have a left tackle, it is hard to believe that there are only 5 or 6 who could start in the NFL.

should implode.

I disagree, Shazier is an elite prospect in this class. Could definitely get him on the field this year, and would be TD's future replacement. Running base nickel in the future with Shazier and Luke would be completely nasty. All that speed and coverage ability at LB....

why invest that much into the 1 position? if he is elite, he would be gone by pick #28 anyways. there could be other LBs that could be had in later rounds that could contribute just as much, plus Luke, TD, and AJ is a fine LB corp. i do not think you build a successful franchise by focusing on 1 position in the first round. 2 1st round LBs in 3 years is not how you build a team.

Best player available. Unless one of the top OT or WR drops Shazier could easily be that. You build a successful franchise by getting the best football players into said franchise. Klein is nowhere near the player Shazier is.

In fact, Kiper doesn't see any tackles at 28 that will would be better pick for Panthers than a WR. Mel Kiper says he doesn't see an OT he's excited about for the #Panthers to take with 28th pick.

"In Carolina, receiver has to trump tackle" -- Kiper on Panthers' pick at 28. Per dave newton. And I agree 100%. I want a tackle but sorry the value just isn't there...

Kiper has us taking Morgan Moses in his mock draft.

I assume this has already been stated.

Pretty sure he said on the conference call yesterday he thinks they go with Latimer. Just hasn't updated mock yet more than likely.

that is not known. in the limited reps AJ has got, he played pretty damn well. you have to do more then build one position with 1st rounders when building a championship team.

In his mock dated April 17 he has us picking Moses.

He's a fuging joke.

You add talent period. It's not like Shazier wouldn't get on the field. There's no guarantee TD is even here this time next year.
