kiper doesn't think panthers should take tackle at 28

According to anyone who isn't blind. Why the hell would we waste our 28th pick on a RT? We could easily take a guy like Bitonio in the second (who shows more potential in pass protection).

I am sure Gettleman isn't blind and is considering them. Kiper is a tool. Also, Bitonio? You want a Guard (regardless what he played in college because in the NFL he will be a guard) to become a RT or LT? lol, you're one to talk about blind. Cyrus is a better prospect than him. I have no problem if we go OT in the first. I don't have a problem if we go WR. About the only objection I would have is RB and QB. Come draft day, if Cyrus or Moses name is called out, I hope you don't throw a hissy fit.

He's also a much better pass blocker than people think, people just see his size and say "he's a run blocker"

He had plenty if practice too. Virginia was constantly behind by the half. Nothing but passes trying to catch up to their opponents. They didn't have a great year so his tape wasn't exciting to watch. He had nothing to really play for but still played solid without complaining

The drop off in OT is worse than WR from 1 to 2. Bell at LT and Garry at RT? Come on now. I get it, people are in love with play makers, but our tackles are a liability. I just don't see how a DE will have trouble setting the edge against the run or beating them with first, second and counter moves.

God help us when we can only send 3 while Olsen and a back are pass protecting on 3rd down. They did that plenty last season; drove me crazy not seeing Greg as a target in a needed clutch moment.

Kiper was also high on Clausen.

First  off chandler would probably get first shot at either or position at tackle.  so by your logic its better to force tackle who isn't first round caliber which would in all likely be hood a second round talent. and get a second round talent at wr? why have  a first rounder all? reaching for need is worse than taking a need with at a stronger position in the draft?

Oh you know people are setting themselves up to throw fits. Going to be tough for an amazing talent to slide to 28. It's essentially a second round pick that people are treating as sacred as a top 10

Makes just as much sense as people clamoring to force the best WR available regardless if its BPA. Pointless to debate who everyone thinks is the value at 28. The topic is Kipers "shoe in WR at 28 for the panthers" statement. It's narrow minded to think that way. OT could just as easily be the pick as is TE CB S or something of need

They'll look at our needs and the verticals ranks that go along with them, decide who is the best amongst that and that'll be our 28th pick.

Well Since WR is the strongest position in the draft and WR is a big need arguable to tackle as the biggest need on the team why waste a pick when you have a more talented player at an equal need?

Mel needs to first look at the tackles currently on our roster

"I just don't see a tackle I'm excited about," Kiper

said during a conference call with reporters

Wednesday...I don't see anybody at 28 from an

offensive tackle standpoint that would excite me

over a wide receiver. And they desperately need

that."

As long as they take the highest rated player based on their board I'm fine dude. Moses > Bitonio Turner Mewhort James and Fleming (that's just my opinion). If he's there he'll likely be the discussed tackle vs the highest ranked WR.

No one knows how this is all going to turn out and no one knows the Panthers board / rankings. But again the topic was "WR for sure" by a guy who a week ago pinned Moses to us at 28

Certainly was excited by Clausen. 4th best player in the 2010 draft right Mel?

From PFT

But Kiper is sticking to his guns. “I had him [The Jims] as the fourth-best player,” Kiper said in a post-draft conference call. “That’s my rating. That’s my opinion, and I’ll stand by it. We’ll see what happens three years from now.”

Cooks, OBJ, and Lee are the only WRs I would take above Moses. Even if he does just become a RT, maybe we find a vet LT after cuts as a stop-gap and actually have a running game next year. For me, OT is still the number 1 need but I obviously wouldn't hate a play-making WR. I'm just worried if we wait, we could wind up with another Kugzilla type experiment at 60 or in the 3rd and are completely fuged on the OL next year. No matter what new WR we draft, Cam won't be throwing to him from his back.
