I don't know about the outriggers. Seems like a lot to haul.

Installed a fish finder today. Works like a champ.

Transducer glued to inside of hull.

Caught 5 bass today at MIL. That Latta plantation Park access is great.

I have some friends that use their yaks at the coast and absolutely kill the red drum, flounder and speckled trout. You can get into those skinny areas and fish some waters that are off limits to 99% of boaters.  Plus you can play with the gators.

on a kayak i'd use collapsible outriggers.   on my canoe i just haul them out to where i'm going to fish and then put them on, or use them when i'm hauling a lot of cargo

I can't wait to try this thing in the Grass flats!

  • 1 month later...

took the canoe out weds with some catalpa worms and caught about 9 or 10 little cats in about 3 hours...after it stopped raining.

i seriously need some better outriggers that are easier to deploy before i go again.   i'm gonna be in trouble if i hook up with a 10+ lb catfish without them.

where i was at, there was heavy current flowing under some docks while the had the wheels running in the afternoon on northern lake wylie.  i was just flipping the worms under them and letting the current drag them down the length of the docks.  we probably caught 6 or 7 in the hour we were at that spot.

i love that lake. full of fish and probably the cleanest in the system. but that's not saying much.

make some outriggers (or buy them for 300$) for a little extra stability when you're still fishing

i really enjoy fishing from my canoe for the same reason. i can port or work the shallows to get to places i can't with a motor.

I finally know what PSC looks like.

I'm at carolina beach and while I was on a SUP in the intercostal I saw a guy on a sit on top rigged to the nines except outriggers. He even had a fish finder sticking through one of his scuppers.

So, I got on a kayak for the first time this weekend in the freaking rapids. I am proud to say that I did not end up in the drink, due to my natural, kick-ass skills. Fun but cold as hell. I couldn't feel my feet for hours.

I'll be kayak fishing the Catawba Friday morning. Zod, you're welcome to join is if you want. We'll start at the dam in Fort Mill and float down to River Park in Rock Hill (about 6 miles). I hear the largemouths will be biting.
