kayak Fishing - updated

Welp, broke down and purchased one. Ended up ordering this one.... The perception sport apparently uses the same mold as a much more expensive kayak that people loved.

And now I am looking at options for accessories, fish finders, etc. Good times.

Looks awesome, but don't invite SCP along as I'm pretty sure he'll think the bow oval is a shytter.

May I ask how much research you put in to buying it?  Every time I get the itch to get one I look at all the reviews and all the info and it is overwhelming.  I end up not knowing which to get.

With my tax refund coming I might splurge.

Took it out for an spin today at the Latta plantation Park on mountain Island lake

Caught some nice bass.... This one was under a log about 15 feet from me. No way I could have snuck up on him in my boat.

Really enjoyed myself. Paddling around all the branches silently and checking out the scenery is really relaxing.

Highly recommended.

If you're doing lake fishing...that works.  Looks like a Wilderness System Tarpon.

If you're wanting to do a lot of inshore/offshore, then you'll be doing a bit more work.

My bro-in-law has the Native Manta-Ray 14 and just got an Ultimate Ride.  I'd love to be able to afford to get a Slayer or MantaRay, but just not a priority right now.

i love that lake.  full of fish and probably the cleanest in the system.   but that's not saying much.

make some outriggers (or buy them for 300$) for a little extra stability when you're still fishing

i really enjoy fishing from my canoe for the same reason.  i can port or work the shallows to get to places i can't with a motor.
