Goodson got a ton of work in yesterday...

Goodson got as many reps as any Panther player I have ever seen in camp. He looked a bit soft on the first few, getting knocked down on one pretty easily. He seemed to pick up the pace a bit towards the end.

Its hard to tell what the kid can do, and will have to wait until an actual scrimmage with tackling to find out. But as much practice as he is getting in, lack of reps won't be an excuse.

Interesting! Did you have a chance to note what type of plays he was running?

Mainly off tackle stuff with the occasional break to the outside. The defense is told to allow him to finish the runs, so its impossible to tell how far he will get until after they are allowed to really start tackling.

Good, stuff in space. Should be his forte. Does it look like he has that extra gear? (I know it's probably hard to tell right now though).

Can't tell. He changes direction very quickly, which is probably why the team is excited about him. He has the ability to hesitate ever so slightly then pick his opening and hit it fast.

He is pretty lanky though, looks more like a WR. Not sure if he can take a pounding up the middle.

Ohhh...very nice. I expect they will try to isolate him on nickel CBs and LBs outside rather than subject him to that type of pounding inside. Imagine Smitty outside and Goodson lined up in the slot? Or vice versa.

Reggie Bush-ish, Zod?

I've been making that comparison since we drafted Goodson, and I hope he can fill the same roles for us (slot receiver and return man).

Unlike New Orleans, however, we have two very capable running backs (though I actually think Pierre Thomas will be a decent back for the Saints).

Awesome. From the highlights I've seen of him and all you guys' reports, that's how I'm picturing him - as a Reggie Bush or Leon Washington-type guy.

Not to say he's the equal of either guy, but I could see him being used by the Panthers in a way that's somewhere between Reggie Bush and Devin Hester if he earns the playing time in camp.
