Manziel a Cowboy?

If he's on the clock at #16, I just can't possibly see Jerry passing on him.  Romo is 34 and has a bad back.  Jerry has openly admitted that he's more about the money and the attention than he is the wins and the losses.  In terms of attention, Johnny Football is The Golden Calf of Bristol 2.0.  I think he's a much better NFL QB prospect than The Golden Calf of Bristol was, but he's going to bring the same type of media circus and Jerry just could not pas that up.

Now being reported that the Giants would look at Manziel if he were to drop to number 12.

Wonder if it's true, or maybe they think they can get Jerry Jones to trade the farm for him.

This could get fun

I'd say this is far more likely to be the case.  I can't see the Giants taking Manziel.  That is unless they feel like Eli is on the decline.  He is 33, after all and with the OLs they've put in front of him, he's taken one helluva beating in his career.  Still though, they should be a decent OL away from being a contender.

Serious question. Can someone name me a team that the media HASN'T reported Manizel going to? Every team in the top 15 at one point or the other had Manizel as their target, except maybe the Lions. Outside of that, the 49ers, Patriots, Broncos, Bengals have all been rumored.

The media as LITERALLY spent 80% of their draft coverage on Manizel...

That has got to be some sort of record.

It makes absolutely no sense for the Patriots, Broncos, or Bengals to take Manziel.  I would also say the 49ers, but Harbaugh is just such a wildcard that who knows what the hell he's thinking.  In NE, Bill Belichick is a system guy.  He wants his QB to essentially be an extension of himself out there on the field.  I don't think there's anyway that he goes for a wild gunslinger like Manziel.  In Denver, the Broncos are in 100% win NOW mode.  They're really trying to squeeze a Super Bowl win out of Peyton's final years.  Drafting a QB in the 1st is going to do nothing to maximize that goal.  In Cincy, people are beating Dalton up for some poor playoff performances, but the kid is pretty damn good.  Way too good to justify spending a 1st rounder on another QB.  There's a lot of teams who would love to have Andy Dalton at QB instead of whoever they currently have.

You and I know this. Anybody who even causally follows the NFL know this. But this has not stop ESPN and NFLN and CBS and NBC and YAHOO from reporting "Manizel to Patriots" or "Bengals considering trading Dalton for Maniel" as their Headlines.

I am a FSU alumni so I really want Winston to go NO. 1 next year but if it means that Winston will get the Manizel treatment I pray to god that he chooses to Baseball instead because by this time next year I would be tired of hearing about him.

This draft coverage has been beyond overkill for Manizel.

P.S. The 49ers are the LEAST likely to draft Manizel. They are LITERALLY about to work on an extension after the draft.

It's also worth remembering in this discussion that some of the teams who might claim to have an interest in Manziel would, in reality, have no intention of taking him. They're just angling for a nice offer from someone who actually does want him.

That kind of thing happens every year.
