Kalil at the podium now

true, but I'm not giving up hope.  He started as a rookie coming out of a small school.  Now he's been in the system

for 2 years and has some experience plus a chance to sit back and watch a lot of tape.  I'm hoping everything is coming together for him, and he becomes a very good starter this year at either position.

That said, Hurney drafted him.

I hope so too.  It's just he has become one of my pet peeves.  Seems like everyone gives him a pass and ignores his bad play.  It's the opposite for Godfrey.  People ignore Godfrey's good plays and magnify the bad.  I myself may be guilty of doing the same to Amini even though I try to be objective.   He has all the physical tools for sure.  Plus his run blocking is still the best on the team, it's his pass blocking that scares me to death.

For Chandler, size was always the issue. Way to small for guard, unless you run a lot, he gets overwhelmed by bigger DTS, but can use his athletic ability to move, shuffle, and manipulate, the smaller DEs.

At 325ish, with minimal loss of his abilities, he truly can play anywhere. In a way it is a good option having guys like him on your Oline. Like maybe giving Bell a chance at LT, knowing you have Chandler in the wings should things go sour.

LT - Rookie 1st round pick if I had my way.

LG - Amini, 315, hoping he is bigger and better this year. He was Second Captain of last years off-season.

C - Kalil, 300

RG - Chandler, listed at 310, but heard he gained some weight.

RT - Bell, 340 4th years the charm. I had him as my adopted Panther 2 years ago. So I kept a weathered eye on him last year. He may not be as bad as deemed up in here.

Solid to start with. Decent size for the run game. Upgradeable with no sweat broken. Like Wharton resigning. That could move Amini to RG, Chandler to RT, and Bell to depth. Looks better and you really only need to, I don't know, maybe ask the guy?

Maybe they believe the only T left when we pick plays RT? Do you still take him and hope you may be able to some day move him over to LT? If there is no top tier LT left when we pick? Oh, I get it. That's what everyone is so excited about.

Silver lining. One way or another, we get to look at some kids.

I just don't see nobody that can play LT with our pick

Hence the quandary. If the top 5 LTs are gone, do we still take #6? Does the WR position have the same rules? If the top 4 WRs are gone. Do we pick #5, or skip to next page?

Which holds more value? WR, or LT? At 28 how far are you willing to bend the rules for a starting LT?

With the WR class, you have more opportunities to draft a talent kid. So no moral dilemma's to deal with. So there is that.

To sum it all up. You can still find WR help into the later rounds. Oline, especially LTs, not so much.

With that said. Take the best LT left at 28. Gives you the leeway to draft anyway you wish after that. WR needs a good sniff. Okay, here's a couple of picks. DBs want a pick. Okay, here's your 1. Don't screw this up.

After that...it's all gravy man.

My hope being, I want 2 WR talented enough to push each other for a good long time. That can happen this year, even if I spend my 1st on a LT. 4th pick a DB, and we've rounded up our usual "These are the guys we expect to play" herd.

All I am saying is, give me a Starting Caliber LT at 28. You can have the rest. Entertain me.

I'm you're huckleberry.

Will you be upset if we take Shazier in the first, a wr in the second and a db in the third?

That could happen.

Not saying I'd clap along happy with it, but I wouldn't hate it if we don't get ot

value in those rounds.

I'd rather see a training camp full of competition to get better than one that is basically just going through the motions and 99% of the roster and depth chart is already filled up based on name and past history.

Y'all that get to go to Spartanburg every year are in for a treat, because there will actually be camp battles.

A decent strategy could be to take Billy Turner at 60 and maybe like a Dakota Dozier as well later.  Turner could start out at RT if that works better for us and Dozier could be flex G/C depth and a potential starter at LG.    Chandler being a flex is a good asset.

Pretty much everybody knows what we need. All the scenarios, and theories folks throw out at draft time are pure speculation. Interwebz entertainment value at its finest.

Me? And thanks for asking. I like the WR, LT, WR, DB combination. 2 starters, and 4 contributors, from that group, would make us better. That alone should brighten your day.

That said. Latimore, Moses, Robison, best DB left. I just think DBs deserve a decent shot at a talent infusion.

Good Assessment, IMO Chandler is the ultimate backup OL due to his versatility, but he is better off  playing for the Panthers as a backup. Kugbilla has the instincts, size and skill to play RG more so than Chandler and will be the starting RG. According to many on the Huddle Gettleman overreached with the 4th pick but i believe it will pay-off for the interior OL.

STARTING OL:  LT- Kouandjio | LG- Amini | C- Kalil | RG- Kugbilla | RT- Bell

BACKUP OL:  LT- Chandler | LG- Scott | C- Draft | RG- Williams | RT- Richardson

DRAFT:

LT- Cyrus  Kouandjio  | Morgan Moses

RT- Antonio Richardson | Ju'wuan James
