Cam Newton: “I have to take more ownership of this offense and I will."

and an OL that will give him time to find an open playmaker

Tis true.

If you look at the stable of receivers the Saints have been using over the past few years, they're really not that great.  Jimmy Graham is great, but the wide receivers (Marques Colston included) don't rise above "good" to me. Heck, look back at their Super Bowl depth chart.  Lance Moore, Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem...none of those guys ever struck me as being special.

They've been able to sustain a great passing attack resting primarily on two things: An accurate quarterback and an offensive line that gives him time to find the open guy.

Get Newton a line that gives him time like that, and I think we can wait a year to go after a 'gamebreaker'.

The forgotten key factor. Mike Shula.

The forgotten key factor. Mike Shula.

Shula's playcalling might not be as creative as Sean Payton's, but with the right players in place I believe it can be effective.

Also, little doubt in my mind that we have a better defense in place than New Orleans did when they won their trophy.

With Shula my primary concern is consistency. Hopefully the Ramsdell hire helps with that.

Exactly a db can only cover for so long no matter how good the receiver is. But i do not see a starting left tackle where we are picking. But I'm not a gm nether so we will see.

Steve smith was a cheap excuse..

You don't become a leader by eliminating the strong egos, they must be convinced.

This is the difference between a leader and a shepherd..

A leader will lead both the sheeps and the wolves.

Not always true.

You can be a leader and want to treat your guys the way you want them to be treated and handle situations the way you want them, but then someone else such as Smith can come in and mess all of that up by just yelling at another teammate and/or demanding the ball more and more. Which has been documented and seen on TV with our own eyes.

It's not an issue of Cam convincing Smith. It was an issue of Smith disrupting the way Cam wants to run the team.

Cam doesn't really strike me as a Tom Bradyish "I'm great and you will be great too or I will stick my finger in your face and b--ch all over you" type of guy.
