We may not go WR in the first, but I doubt we wait until the third to address the position.  We've brought in more WR's than any other position and it's not even close, that's a clear sign that they know we are in desperate need at WR.  There is truth to the fact that these guys won't be #1's on day 1, but you have to get some young talent that can develop into that guy, and I'm not sure a 3rd rounder will cut it.  We've gone that route a lot since we drafted smith, and surprise, we've lacked a true playmaker at WR aside from smitty.  I think our pick will be O-line unless for some reason Cooks is there if he's there, then we go Cooks #1, if not, then Kouandjio or Moses will be our pick.  Second will be focused on our WR position, be it Matthews or Moncrief.  I say all of this with no credentials to back up any of my claims.

 

At the same token that could mean the opposite. Could have brought in alot of WR's because he FO knew that we were gonna go heavy on OL in this draft. 

 

How many DT's did we sign and bring in last year?

No way JA goes in the 4th... Well not no way but a slim %.

I'm willing to bet anything that he is high up on our board. The things he does best is exactly what our coaching staff and GM values most in WR prospects.

The dude has literally destroyed DB, based on his route running alone. He might not be explosive but he's shifty and has the ability to get decent yac.

Check out the dude's tape for Ohio State for example. He massacred Roby who is expected to be a 1st rounder by same. Roby tried being physical with him, even interferes multiple times but Abbrederis just kept getting open, over and over again. His double moves are just a thing of beauty and he looks like a pro already.

Pre combine he was projected as a late 2nd, 3rd guy by most. Now with people salivating over measurables and upside he has fallen by the way side(like every year).

 

Kid has sickening head and footing fakes which compliment his route running.  Do we even know if our wide-outs have been in the places they were supposed to be the past 3 years? Nope.  There is no reason to believe a guy with somewhat limited physical upside can't become a "#1" due to route running, hands and a plethora of fakes.  Reggie Wayne comes to mind.

They brought in older transitional players and only signed them to 1-2 year cheap deals. The only commitment here they aren't any long-term solution on the roster right now.

Not 1 Wr we signed is a deterrent from drafting a WR or 2 or 3 in this draft. Actually the type of players they signed makes me more confident that early picks will be used on WR. Older vets who are know to be "team guys". Meaning veterans who are here for 2 years to help a rookie or rookies make the adjustment to the pros.

Honestly there has been so much speculation about Moses in the first for us that I doubt we take him.  If Star didn't fall to us we were going to take Short.  Who on earth predicted that?

 

Short was the best pass rushing DT in the draft last year. Wouldnt have surprised me at all. Just lol at all the people that passed on him.

If Star didn't fall I think Vaccarro would have been the pick.

Well obviously i dont know for sure, but..

 

1. Current draft grades.

2. The depth at each position

3. Teams' needs

 

The guy might be a good receiver but being one of the best route-runners in the draft doesnt mean you are primed for the NFL. Route-running, believe it or not, can be improved while athleticism cannot. GMs are clearly more interested in the latter. People keep talking about his performance against Roby, I didn't watch that game but i did watch Robys DB drills during the combine and he looked very stiff which can get you in trouble against good route runners in college.

I like Abberderis but not sure if he's physical enough. He strikes me as a good possession receiver but not the big target that could be available. I think Martavis Bryant could be there. I think even Allen Robinson could be there in the third. Cam isn't out there throwing accurate mid-range darts. He needs players with a large catch radius..so I'd like to see us take a big receiver.
