He was drafted to sell tickets and jerseys...

 

ROFL yea people flock to see their favorite player in street cloths on the sideline.(a VERY small portion of fans btw)

 

We sold out before and after AE and he isn't a draw so try again as this is more laughable than saying he was drafted as a project.

 

The truth is he was a d2 superstar who showed us why he played d2 instead of d1 and certainly didn't translate to the NFL. His super d2 speed was like watching a 6'4 220lb WR who runs a 4.6...the trouble with that is AE was 5'11 180-190.

I think it was that guy who never stopped spinning.  He was a defensive end, I think.  Can't remember his name, but I'm old enough for that to be a valid excuse. 

 

Everette Brown.

 

Brown was drafted primarily because of Ron Meeks.  He'd run the Colts defense using undersized players and thought he could accomplish the same thing here.  Brown was supposed to be our version of Dwight Freeney.

 

What they didn't realize was that we didn't have Pyton Manning running up the score on offense and forcing other teams to have to pass.  We had a John Fox / Jeff Davidson conservative offense.  The combo of that with undersized D-Linemen was awful.

Marty is responsible for a lot of bad draft picks/busts here - but Everette Brown may at the top of the list, especially considering they traded to get him. 

 

EB is probably the leader in the clubhouse for this thread because everything we are judging him by is strictly FB related and no off the field stuff. From all accounts he was a good team mate, a good person, smart kid, etc. Just not an NFL FB player.

I blame Marty for Everette Brown (especially the trade up) but I blame Meeks more.

 

I gotta believe he lobbied hard for Brown.
