Kendall Phills Would Love To See Bobby's Jersey Hanging At TWCA

Recommended Posts

I'm sort of torn on this one.  Phills was a solid player for us for a couple of years. What happened to him was a tragedy, and the old Hornets I thought did a good job of honoring his life when the tragedy occurred. Ultimately when I think of Phills I see him more as a Cleveland Cavalier then a Charlotte Hornet in terms of his career.

If there's an out pouring of support by ex-Hornets then you have to listen, but I don't think it should be before any of the Hornet greats.

The old Hornets already retired the jersey and put it in the rafters, now it's about seeing if the NBA will let us have those accomplishments as well as all the other old Hornet accomplishments back.

I'd love to get the attendance championship banners back as well because most of the people that were responsible for those banners are still in the area and will probably be attending games now that the name is back.

The 88-02 history should be returned to Charlotte. Yes, it's technically still the records of a different franchise but there has never been a precedent for what has happened.

Teams have relocated and been replaced down the road but the name switching has never happened in any sport. Maybe the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, but I believe the Yankees switched their name long before the new Baltimore franchise came along.

At the very least the attendance banners should be given back. That accomplishment belongs to the Carolinas, not in Louisiana where they've never cared about their team.

Yeah I don't think the NBA is gonna give Charlotte the old Hornets history back.  The only time I've ever heard of that happening is when the Browns made a deal with the NFL that let the city keep the name and history when they moved to Baltimore.
