Bud Light

We have so many local brews here we consider New Belgium to be what the tourists drink. And we get fresh hops here. Asheville can't compete with Denver. Bigger mountains, stronger beer, and 90% less white trash. Don't forget our THC infused beers. Sent from my XT1080 using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

eh...that's pushing it.

Right about everything else, though.

Fug Bud Light.

No, that'd be Portland. I think they have 60 breweries.

My faves are Anchor Steam and Stella.

Asheville, NC has surpassed Portland, OR as the top beer city in the US. It isn't 1998 anymore and they aren't the only big time beer city out there, other cities have surpassed Portland. Sheer number of breweries doesn't mean much but they have nowhere near 60 breweries. Portland is almost 8x bigger than Asheville by population but they only have about 15 more breweries. You don't count the breweries surrounding Portland unless you wanna count breweries in Hickory, Morganton, and Charlotte as Asheville.

Portland, OR- 650,000+ population, 38 breweries per portlandbeerguide

Asheville, NC- 85,000+ population, 22 breweries, 5 opening within next year

I know you hate NC and think everything is better in New York or at least somewhere else but you're wrong. Nobody can touch the beer scene in Asheville right now. My close friend, who is a brewer in California, has visited Portland OR, Grand Rapids MI, San Francisco CA, Denver CO, and Asheville NC within the last year. He said none of them touch Asheville right now. From the quality of beer, growth of breweries, or even just the general atmosphere. He isn't from any of those cities and has no dog in the fight. He said Asheville is hands down the best right now.

Run along and eat some of that greasy, thin pizza y'all over hype.

You might want to check Google, angry one. I checked my facts before posting. Portland is number one on multiple sites, period. Asheville is not. Asheville is, however, number two per capita ... behind, you guessed it, Portland.

You MIGHT be confusing the fact that Asheville is the considered by one website as the number one "craft beer" city.

And btw, I hate Portland with a passion so I have no reason to favor it over the hippy hellhole that is Asheville. So while I eat my crappy pizza, you go brag about The Orange Peel.

It may be heresy in this thread, but my favorite drink is a Guinness from a fresh keg. Guinness that has been around too long can be a great disappointment when it comes to flavor and texture.

I'll drink Guinness or Sam Adams if I'm at a restaurant that doesn't have anything better. Otherwise I find it overpriced for what it is.

I don't drink much beer anymore, but when I did I drank for the effect, not the taste. It all taste pretty much the same to me though.

This is gonna be the dialogue from the most depressing, "Most interesting man in the world" commercial. He's overweight and diabetic with an eye patch over the eye that went blind. And he's only got one girl next to him who's 28 but looks 40. And then he confesses he sold out to pimp watered down swill and weeps.
