While all of us fans are begging for a WR or OT, I have a sneaking suspicion we could see a DE at #28. With Hardy not locked up long-term and CJ's huge contract, I wouldn't be shocked.

Could very well happen. I still think it could be a DB

not voting.  I can't believe so many of  you guys are still thinking our first rounder is going to be

an ot or wr when Getty has hammered it home so many times he wants bpa.  It may be a de,

an olb, a db, or possibly a wr.  I'm not as fond of the bpa scenario in every round, but in the first,

I truly think that's what we're going to do unless it's a qb or rb.

He's also hammered home that he wants to address needs via FA to allow him to go BPA in the draft.  How's that OT depth chart looking?

Don't care. I truly want (no cliche intended) the best player available.

If one of Manziel/Bortles/Bridgewater hypothetically takes the 'Aaron Rodgers' Dive and our choice at 28 is a player graded 1-2 or Manziel/Bortles/Bridgewater, I'd prefer to take Manziel/Bortles/Bridgewater. Because it would be a VALUE pick. And if he does turn out to be a good player, then one or the other of your 1st round QBs would have great trade value (don't really think any would be better than Cam, but I'm keeping a hypothetically open mind).

I'd rather add value to the team with a value player at ANY position rather than reach for a project on a wish and prayer.

fug that noise

Tough to get value when a player is stuck riding the pine.  Drafting a guy with the intention of later trading him for a better pick is fool's gold at best.  What if we spend the #28 pick on a QB with that intention and the guy sucks ass in the preseason (the only time he'll see the field barring injury)?  Then you've completely wasted a 1st round pick on a bust who you never intended to play anyway.  That's the sort of thing that gets a GM fired.

I didn't say draft him ONLY with the intention of trading him.

I'm just admittedly jaded by USC WRs. The guy looks like the real deal, but so have several before him who didn't work out. A USC WR who was widely touted as a top 10 pick who starts sliding and all of a sudden looks likely to be a late 1st round or 2nd round pick? Yeah, we've seen that story play itself out before. Right here in Charlotte. Twice.

USC WRs scare me too, but when I watch Lee, he looks awesome. I'm too young to remember what Colbert looked like coming out of college but old enough to remember that I thought Dwayne Jarrett was an idiot when he came out.

I can't ever recall a team trading or letting a franchise QB in his prime walk away in FA and actually improving.  Primarily because it almost never happens.

Cutler to Manning.

But the point is correct, this rarely ever happens.
