2012 NFL redraft: oh, RGIII didn't go #1?

Luck has talent. He also had Wayne and Hilton. Seattle's D won that SB. Not saying Wilson is a bad qb, but of that draft class, I still think Luck is the best.

Question is though. What if Luck had come out in 2011? Who would the huddle have been screaming for? Luck or Cam?

He didn't have Wayne for much of last year.

Not gonna lie, if both Cam and Luck had been available in 2011, I would've wanted Luck.  I thought Cam was boom or bust, but due to the rookie wage scale, I was screaming to take him because taking a guy #1 overall was no longer the huge risk it once was because you didn't have to pay him like a future HOFer before he ever played a single down in the NFL.  Coming into the draft, I would've viewed Cam has having the higher ceiling but Luck having the higher floor.  In the end, I think things worked out very well for both us and the Colts.  I don't think either franchise or fanbase should be complaining or hyper-defensive regarding comparisons between the two respective QBs - they're both damn good.

I really don't think there would've been much hysteria.  99.9% of the Huddle was mad as hell when Luck declared he was returning to Stanford, myself included, and many still hold a grudge against him for it - I'm not part of the latter group.  Everyone wanted Luck.  The attention only turned to Cam once Luck was out of the question.  If Luck had been available, I'm virtually certain he would've been our pick.  I'll go ahead and put on my flame suit now.

I remember specifically watching Stanford games assuming there was no chance he would stay in school being the unanimous #1 overall. Especially when we were virtually guaranteed the #1 after the Cleve loss. When the news broke he was staying it was like a kick in the nuts.

I immediately switched to thinking, well, I guess its Newton or Fairley then. I really enjoyed watching Newton play that year tho, I thought he was the most talented player in college football. Luck was considered about as sure a thing as there has ever been in the draft.

I hope Newton gets some nice targets in this draft like Luck got when he was drafted. Other than him, its really all been about fixing the D since then. I hope #2 is good enough for them to start addressing the other side with some urgency.

People always stuff like this but it really doesn't make any difference what receivers he has. He is a good player and fine QB. Cam hasn't has much WR talent around him and he's still very good. He will have a bunch of bargain basement guys or rookies at WR this year, that doesn't make him a worse player. His stats may suffer but I'm not talking about stats - I'm talking about being good on your own.

I'm not a Luck jock sniffer but I can give the guy the credit he is due.

Yet this thread is already at three pages. Social media job ... done.

I'm pretty surprised the thread got to 3 pages. Partially because it turned into a Cam vs. Luck vs. Wilson thread though.

Also if you think the 2012 redraft is dumb, look at this:

http://www.nfl.com/fantasyfootball/story/0ap2000000341426/article/2010-fantasy-draft-doover-surprise-rbs-in-round-1

2010 FANTASY redraft. Because that wouldn't just be a ranking of where everyone ended up at the end of the year!?

To be fair though I kinda feel sorry for the NFL writers...they're really reaching for material at this point and getting hung out to dry with the NFL draft pushed back so far and no real news.

Just another example of the NFL making itself into an "event" you're supposed to follow year round. NFL football is by far my favorite sport but this is getting obnoxious. Cuban may have been right when he talked about NFL saturation.

Luck is the best young QB is the league. I love Cam but I'd take Luck over him.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but I'll stand pat. I think most Seahawk fans would too. Skins fans would have too prior to the ACL.

It all makes the NFL better IMO, man I miss football. Can't wait to see what the new kids can do too. I hope the Texans or Jax draft Manziel to make that division more competitive. If they both draft QB's that'll be fun to watch them chase Luck.

These redrafts are kinda becoming the new thing. I've noticed them the last 2-3 years. Yeah, anyone could do it, same as mock drafts. I like reading them just to be reminded of the busts/underperformers.

I think this year Lindys has Star going 10th overall, Sheldon goes #1 overall to KC. Its nice seeing us hit on our picks, they may seem like no-brainers today but the FO made some brave decision with Cam and Luke. Star was like the bonus prize for making those picks. If Dareus or Fairley were the #1 instead of Cam imagine how different things could look today or god forbid Gabbert, YIKES.
