2012 NFL redraft: oh, RGIII didn't go #1?

Must be nice having a job where you get to tell people what they should have done 2 years ago.

Great research NFL.com. You're almost at ESPN levels of useless

Still makes more sense than the "grades" given out two days after the draft...

Picking Russell freaking Wilson over Luke Kuechly is fuging insane. I'm not even sure I'd take Luck over him.

The QB position is just THAT important.  A borderline top 10 QB > the best MLB in the game.  A good QB ensures that you can compete, a great MLB doesn't necessarily do that.

It's okay man, you don't have to bash every other young QB in the game.  Cam will be alright.

Neither Luck nor Wilson are anywhere near top 10 QBs. Luck is overrated. He is a turnover machine with horrible accuracy. He wasn't even that good at Stanford.

Wilson plays on the best team in football & simply hands off to Lynch or throes off play action. He can't even throw from the pocket.

Newton barely flirting with the 10-12 range.

If my QB was Curtis Painter & I had a2-14 team yeah I'd take Luck. By if I had a good team I'd take Kuechly & pick up a Alex Smith type via free agency.

I'd love to hear who you think the top 10 QBs are.

I agree with you, but you have to take into account there are no top 10 QBs on bad teams, whereas a MLB (or defensive player in general) can still be a defensive MVP on a 2-14 team (for example some people talked about Watt as DPOY last year).

I know that's kind of circular logic, where you can't be a good team without a great QB, and you can't be a great QB without a good team, but my point is that we have no idea what Wilson would look like on a poo team. He might be Jake Locker for all we know. Now, I think he's probably better than that, but he's never had to carry a team like Cam or Luck have had to do. This is why I roll my eyes when I hear about Johnny Football to going to a perennial poo team like the Browns (pun kinda intended).

Anyway, if Panthers fans are upset over Wilson getting taken before Kuechly, can you imagine how butthurt Seahawks fans will be when they see Luck over Wilson after he just came off a SB win?

Only somewhat Panthers related, but hey its the offseason. I always think these NFL draft do-overs are entertaining even if they're overly reactionary most of the time.

Anyway, here's a do-over of the 2012 NFL draft from Bucky Brooks, Carolina Huddle favorite and possibly the only guy who loves running backs as much as Marty Hurney:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000341796/article/2012-nfl-draft-doover-redskins-take-wilson-not-rgiii

Couple points of interest:

-Kuechly goes #3, with only Luck and Wilson ahead of him.

-Still has Luck #1 overall, but RGIII lasts until #5. (I know I can't believe it either! I thought RGIII was the future of not just the Redskins, but the entire NFL!)

-He has Alshon Jeffery to the Panthers at #9. Seriously how hard would the rest of the NFCS be pooing their pants if Cam had Alshon? Wouldn't trade Kuechly for Alshon though, or probably any other player in that draft class.

-I had to laugh at the fact that he has Alfred Morris at #8 to the Dolphins. Its like he missed the entire point that Morris proved: you don't need to draft a back in the top 10 to have a good running game. Honestly I'm surprised he didn't have the Dolphins not take him at #8 just so he could fuging redraft him to us at #9.

Entire Draft:

i remember arguing for days about Alshon being a great pick. this was on another board. I had forgotten about that.

Not sure the Dolphins would have passed on Tannehill for Alfred Morris. Okay, Morris has done very well to date, but by the same notion, Tannehill has improved each season and could be set for a big step forward. I think Tannehill would still go to the Dolphins.

Another questionable decision is Lavonte David. The guy has become one of the best 4-3 outside linebackers. I'd have loved to have seen him come here. But if we miss on Kuechly, I think taking David would have made sense in a redraft. So for me, David would have gone top ten, or at least a lot higher than 24.

Two seasons and two playoff appearances after the team went 2-14 the year before he was drafted.  He's set all kinds of passing records for rookie and second year QBs.  The kid is damn good.  I don't know why so many of our fans are so defensive about the guy.  Our guy happens to be really damn good too.  No need to be a hater.

Lol, that was a tanked season if i've ever seen one. Colts fans were actually cheering for their team to lose (the suck for luck campaign). In my opinion that season does not count for anything and cant be used to credit Luck for what he has done in the NFL.

Colts went to the playoffs 10 straight times before the 2011 season so if anything he has managed to keep winning in a horrible division with an organisation that knows how to win.

Lol at luck #1

What's he done in the playoffs that Russell Wilson hasn't besides throw like 16 interceptions/game?

I think it has to do with the fact that like Cam Newton, he's completely carrying that offense.  Russell Wilson has an elite defense to lean on and a very good offense surrounding him.  Luck doesn't have that.  I think the majority of NFL GMs would take Luck over Wilson if given the choice between them.

Redskins defense is horrible.
