Seems like hiring a lawyer would end up costing you more than going thru your insurance company to resolve the situation.

Insurance companies have packs of lawyers just standing by waiting for the order to pounce on drug dependent dipshitts like your neighbor.

It's kinda what they do.

From the sounds of it, he seems like a low life scumbag with no money to his name. The amount of money you will spend to hire an attorney (5-10k up front) will be more than what you will pay for your deductible (500? 2500?). If you will try to recoup anything from the criminal, I doubt you would get anything from him in civil court. Because the other person doesn't have home insurance (i'm assuming), there is no way any other insurance company would pay for your damages. You need to find the path that will lead to the least amount of money leaving your wallet and that sounds like paying the deductible.

So I spoke with my neighbor who is Director of HR for Lowe's Company.  He said there is no proof his son shot a flare and he highly doubt his son would do anything like that.  He said his son is a good kid, it just cops for some reason trying to frame him.  He kept saying how terrible cops are that they keep trying to put his sweet son away.  He pretty much said he will not pay for anything and he start making up stories to confuse the whole investigation.  It's to the point where detective will not return my phone calls because investigation is so fuged up.

 

I spoke with lawyer Panthro recommended (super great guy and die hard Panthers fan and he knows about huddle!).  He pretty much said because daddy is Director of HR for Lowe's, he knows how to deal with this to get his junky son out again.  He pull up his son profile and sweet son has crazy arrest list... hit and run, multiple drugs and drunk driving offenses.  It's no surprise cops want to put him away.  Apparently daddy did a good job keeping this junky on the streets.  They were going to hit him with Arson because his friends confess about his son shooting flare but somehow there is a story floating around that his son got framed by 3rd party.  

 

Anyway, my estimated damages are $2.5k and I will have to pay out of my pocket to fix my house.  I'm in grey area where my insurance will not do anything because my deductible is $2.5k.  My neighbor refuses to give me his insurance info and even if he does I will need a lawyer to get a criminal report and that will cost me about $2.5k in lawyers fees.  So i'm pretty much screwed.

 

I got cops now on stakeout looking for his kid.  It's crazy...  His son has no work so it looks like daddy supports sons drugs habits.  Can't believe his ass is HR Director for Lowe's.

Detective just called and said they have enough evidence to charge him with arson.  He's already been charged by NC Wild Life Commission and now he will be charged by Mecklenburg county as well.  It was 2 different investigations and they came to the same conclusion.  Detective said his son will go away and his daddy cannot do anything about it.  He will present my damages in court and judge should order parents to cover my costs.
