With our offense switching to 12 personnel...

Am I the only person scared of Benjamin in the 1st? He's got potential obviously, but I don't think he shows it next year. We need a player in the 1st who is coming in ready to perform.

I think most assume he's going to replicate Alshon Jeffery type success and it's clouding their judgement..    Doesn't hurt that big guy has Brandon Marshall on the other side either.

I did not realized most of the huddle missed this news.  Sorry :P

sorry, not sorry.   just read a fuging message board once or twice a day damnit!

Using more of does not mean switching to it as the base formation.

depends on how exclusive you want to consider a "base formation" for all of your game plan..  but regardless, with the likes of 2 old receivers who aren't fooling anyone as #1 receivers, it would be foolish not to use a 2TE set to open things up so they can at least face 1 on 1 coverage on the outside.    I would do this more often than not whether you consider it a "base formation" or not...

Just FYI we did not use 12 personnel formation at all times during Cam's rookie year but we did utilized it for more than 50% of the time.  I'm sure we will have 3 WRs sets and 1 WR sets but it looks like 12 personnel will be ran quiet a bit otherwise he wouldn't of mention it.  We ran 12 personnel with Hartsock last year quiet a bit and it seems like they will increase the use to about 50% again.

Look for a lineman in Round 1 and a TE in round 2 or 3 if that's the case. Probably Morgan Moses in round 1, and CJ Fiedorowicz in round 3.

I could definitely see us taking Fiedorowicz.  Dude's play screams Gettleman. No style, no grace, just one big dude who lets everyone on the field know it.

We still need a burner as our #1 WR

Speedy #1 will require double coverage with Safety over the top. This means LB will have to cover TE... a mismatch and likely 1st down.

If they play nickle defense then you just pound the ball down the middle with Tolbert. 190lbs nickle trying to tackle 260lbs running back is still a mismatch.

Or just let Cam drop back to see if there's a quick open pass. If not he can take off.

190lb nickel vs faster 250lb runner is a bigger mismatch.

Honestly, Benjamin made more sense to me a month ago. In the present, as we sit right now not thinking of the future, we have 2 very good security blankets for Cam, (cotch avant) 3 if you could Olsen. I justified Benjamin as a jump ball guys when poo hits the fan and Newton needs to unload. That could still be justified cause we don't have a pure jump ball guy (unless mcnutt comes out). What I know for sure we are lacking is a quick, niftey playmaker with speed. Underwood has speed but he isn't a make you miss kind of guy. ( barner could very well become a good scat back to fill that role, so idk) .

fug it just triple dip at OL so we can stuff the ball down their throat to finish off what our defense started.

End of despirate attempt at distraction, back to studies.

I swear we have what we want on offense as far as WR..

I can almost garentee or main focus is to bulk up the line so we can run the ball the way we want. Many will go full fukctard when we don't take a WR in the first 3. Call me an optimist but if we are running a 12 the WR corps we got will do the deed CONSIDERING WHAT WE WANT TO DO OFFENSIVLY. Beef up that OL now and we can take WR next season

Yes I would be happy with CJ in there somewhere.  For some reason I have this feeling he will be a great TE.   Maybe it is the name but I would love to see us grab him.

    • Will he keep this up? Who knows. He's had a few decent and one good game. If he keeps trending in this direction I think we go with a veteran and late round development QB if one falls we really like. If he reverts back to early season play, I wouldn't mind earlier investment in a QB because he has had a lot of time to show consistency.
    • Sounds a lot like the clusterfug we had last year with Reich. Poor leadership loses the team. Poor leadership will cost you your job.
    • According to multiple players and staffers in the locker room, some players were asking why Eberflus didn’t call a timeout. Other players got going, too. “Guys were furious,” a staff member said. “It was an accumulation of this season.” “The locker room was ugly,” another staffer said. “There was a lot of yelling.” Said the first player: “We felt as players it’s been too many instances where we fought our way back into games to lose because of bad time management and decision-making.” Multiple sources added that the emotions were so high between the players and their head coach that Eberflus left the locker room immediately after his speech and the exchange with players. There was nothing left to say. It was a moment for this Bears team that would inevitably force chairman George McCaskey into something the franchise had never done before. By Friday morning, Eberflus was out — but not before the team decided to have him address the media over Zoom just after 9 a.m. Two hours later, he was gone. The Bears made it official by sharing statements from general manager Ryan Poles and president/CEO Kevin Warren.
