Kemo has a torn achilles.

It is what it is

I am so pissed right now at how ignorant Fox and the FO were to not address it and put all of their faith in that neither Lewis or Kemo would get hurt. DT was already weak with the depth we had last year. This year it was replaced by undrafted rookies and a 3rd rounder with just potential so far, making DT even weaker! But we're supposed to be ok with it all because they are "comfortable" with what they have now.

Well, in the long run this may be for the best... I know Kemo's job is to be a run stuffer but I'd like to see the guy play on the other side of the line of scrimmage at least once in a while. Put Kemo on IR and start working out a trade for someone...

I might be wrong, but usual recovery times for this injury is 8-12 weeks, depending on severity. Since it happened this early, there is chance they don't place him on IR and maybe put him on the PUP list, freeing up a spot for 5 weeks. That gives him over 12 weeks to heal, considering we have a bye in week 3. So there is still a chance he plays well over half the season. He and Vick could come in for us in week 6!

Honestly it depends on the severity of the tear. If it's completely ruptured - then count him out until next year because it doesn't repair quickly.

If it's a minor tear or one of lesser degree than a full rupture...perhaps there is a possibility of a return but we're talking late season at best because he's a big man and all that weight is going to be a lot of pressure on that tendon and with the type of movement he needs to make in the d-line...it's going to continue to strain it further.

I would hope that the tear is a minor one but we don't need to lose our run stuffer...the impact of his potential loss is enormous, no pun intended. I am optimistic that they will find someone to fill in the gap...it's just a little unnerving to have it happen so soon...

I wonder what he stepped in/on to cause this? Fox said he was just running.

To sustain an achilles injury you pretty much have to hyper extend your foot in relation to your calf. In other words your toes pointed toward your nose or ass. Of course everything is under more stress with a big man, but it's not the kind of thing I see happening without stepping on or in something.
