Greg Hardy was one of the best prospects going into his senior season. Injuries and off the field issues caused him to drop

Exactly so we didn't have to risk a high pick on a guy who had a injury history and off the field problems.

Which is a good thing for any team. Low risk high reward is what Hardy was.

I liked this blurb from a mock draft:

San Francisco 49ers - Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado: The 49ers biggest obstacle to returning to the Super Bowl are their division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks. The best way to counteract Seattle's super-sized secondary is with quickness, and that's where an explosive player like Paul Richardson in the slot could help not only negate the size advantage in the Seahawks' secondary, but possibly even turn it into a liability.

saying Paul Richardson does not run the entire route tree is just not true. now he does get beat up by more physical CBs at times, but he has also competed with the best in the PAC-12. had a decent game vs Oregon, and they had 2 very good CBs.

You are right.

Who are the college receivers running the full route tree?  They all run what their offense requires and it's usually just a handfull of routes, many of which have no stem.

It's a bogus complaint.

The questions is, is he capable of running the full route tree or enough routes to maximize his skill set?

While I like the kid he isnt as impressive as kenny stills was in college. And stills went 144 overall. And this is a loaded draft. If the predicted wr happens early he could be a guy a team falls in love with and selects him early.

The fire is definately there though. He played top comp and did well with a poo team. Might have been a household name if he was at Okie state or Oklahoma. Like stills he imo is worth a 3rd to 5th round selection and you feel comfortable that he can contribute as a complementary player. Top flight every down wr for a run focused team not really, but slot guy, outside threat sure.

Stills only had a 33 1/2 vertical (bottom of barrel for NFL WR), Richardson had a 38 (top of barrel for NFL WR)

also, Stills is #4 in receiving yards of all WRs taken in last year's draft, so he was likely worth at least a 2nd or 3rd round pick (before the draft, he was given a third-round grade from the NFL advisory committee)

Stills in 2013 - 641 yds, 5 TD on 708 snaps (played 61.3% of Saints offensive snaps) and #1 in NFL with 20.0 yards/catch...he did so well the Saints let go of Lance Moore (now a Steeler). Last month, NFL.com's Gil Brandt wrote a piece profiling ten 2nd-year players due for break-out seasons. He had Stills on it and wrote: "Projection for 2014: 70 catches, 1,050 yards, eight touchdowns."

compare how Stills did to the other WRs taken in last year's draft:

#8 - Tavon Austin - 280 yds, 1 TD, 8.5 y/c

#27 - DeAndre Hopkins - 802 yds on 939 snaps - 15.4 y/c

#29 - Cordarrelle Patterson - 469 yds

#34 - Justin Hunter - 354 yds

#41 - Robert Woods - 587 yds

#59 - Aaron Dobson - 513 yds

#74 - Terrance Williams - 736 yds on 636 snaps - 16.7 y/c

#76 - Keenan Allen - 1,046 yds on 799 snaps - 14.7 y/c

#78 - Marquise Goodwin - 283 yds

#79 - Markus Wheaton - 64 yds

#92 - Stedman Bailey - 226 yds

#101 - Ace Sanders - 484 yds

#102 - Josh Boyce - 121 yds

#123 - Chris Harper - none

#128 - Quinton Patton - 34 yds

#144 - Stills

#161 - Tavarres King - none

#171 - Corey Fuller - none

#174 - Ryan Swope - none

#186 - Justin Brown - none

#195 - Alan Bonner - none

#197 - Cobi Hamilton - none

#209 - Brice Butler - 103 yds

#216 - Charles Johnson - none

#224 - Kevin Dorsey - none

#236 - Marquess Wilson - 13 yds

#238 - Aaron Mellette - none

What are you looking at that isn't impressive because you couldn't have looked at the highlight tape. better question who are you impressed with?

other than the WRs we have no shot at, I like Robinson and Matthews. OBJ looks good as well but I don't think hell be there.

Yes!  Dead on.  My favorite site had Stills as the steal of last year's draft and they nailed it.  They love Paul Richardson this year.

I'm a believer.  I think he's a great option in the 3rd or 4th if he slips a bit.

He can replace what we lost with Ginn and then some of what we've lost with Smitty.
