I'm going to go ahead and let you know what's going to happen...

With just over $21 million to spend in free agency, we're going to overpay for Rudy Gay (about a year and a half ago we were contemplating trading for him).

Some fans will like the trade, some won't; we'll have to see how it plays out.

I take back what I said about wins and the scorer, if it's anyone but Gay, the team will be better. With Gay, I'd expect 20-30 more losses.

I just have a gut feeling this is what's going to happen lol.

We're going to go after Melo, he's going to stay in NY, then we're going to overpay for Rudy.

Yuck.

Look at Raptors, with Gay = horrible team. With out = playoff team. At least the Hornets will have some good lottery picks the next 2-3 years and will be fun to play with on NBA 2k. Lol

Personally,I don't see us struggling next year...

- Pholadelphia and Milwaukee are at least three years away from competing while they continue to rebuild.

- New York, Indiana, Chicago, and Brooklyn have no money.

- Orlando, Detroit, and Cleveland are most likely going to blow their poo up and try to rebuild.

- Miami could possibly lose all their free agents.

In my opinion: Charlotte, Washington, Toronto, and Atlanta are in the best shape. They're all making the playoffs (which entices free agents) and each team has at least $13+ mil to spend in free agency. It's going to come down to how they use it.

I think we should throw all of our money at Melo, if he doesn't want to come; that's fine; then get to the salary floor and save the money until next year when Kevin Love becomes a free agent and we also have Detroit's pick which will most likely be a lotto pick.

You have to have a multiple players who are top 10 at their position to succeed in this league which is why I'm not a fan of spending money just to spend it. We've seen that you can get by with role players. So until we have the opportunity to sign a big name player, just keep filling out the roster with cheap roll players.

Go after LeBron, Melo, Wade, Dirk, Monroe, Duncan, Bledsoe, Randolph, Hayward, and Dengue this year... If you don't get anyone; don't settle for Gay... just wait until next year.

Such little faith here! I think that we will draft a project player OR a player that excels in one particular area. In terms of free agency I think we will make a solid signing and I don't think that we will overpay. I think we are an attractive team to come to as a free agent. We have a top 5 center, good young point guard, good coach, fans who are BEYOND excited to see the Hornets return, and are a young up and coming team in general. I for one am excited to see what can be done this offseason.

Free agency isn't going to bring in a whole lot, Kemba is a poor volume shooter, with out MKG to protect him and the defense, Jefferson is a bottom 10 defensive center and a top 3-5 offensive center. Hendo is meh, the team has no PF unless Zeller makes a huge jump in year 2.

Adding a sf to score that doesn't play defense makes this team horrible defensively and a 25 win team max.

This is also me having faith, if I didn't have faith I'd say blow the team up and rebuild again. "Which I'm very close to saying any way even with faith."

Panic much?

Add Lance and use Hendo as trade bait to move up in draft with Portland pick. Add vet PG and another depth big man. Don't do anything stupid like adding a cancer like Rudy Gay.

Then we still have money for resigning core and 2 first rd picks next year. Detroit pick should be good and is only top 1-2 protected and our own pick.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
