The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to trade away Anton Babchuk.

Babchuk, a restricted free agent, rejected the Hurricanes' one-year/$1 million contract offer. The Hurricanes have no intention of entering the 2009-10 season with him on their team and expect to receive prospects or draft picks in exchange for Babchuk. "The decision has been made on Anton — he's going to be moved," GM Jim Rutherford said. "We now have our top six defensemen." Babchuk scored 16 goals and 35 points in 72 games last season.
