from a Q & A with him:

Do you feel you have a weakness?

"No. I don't think I have a weakness."
...
"I feel like I'm the best defensive end in this draft right now. I want to be the best to play in the NFL."

Is there anything you feel you don't get enough credit for?

"Probably my run-stop game. I feel like some people see me mainly as a pass rusher. I feel like I didn't get enough credit for that, but that's okay, I just gotta show it in the league. And that's what I'll do."

I don't see him as a tweener, hes a 4-3 end. He's pretty much a clone of CJ in terms of play style and size

That was my first thought.

We are going to dump a DE contract next season.  CJ or Hardy, which is why we probably won't lock him down long term in 2014.  I think we wait to see how his season plays out then we make the decision between the 2.

Had this guy in my first of three mocks.  Pretty good motor, not as dynamic as Kraken, but could be a starter after his rookie year.

I had him in the second.

Everything depends on what we are planning for next season.  If we truly plan on renting Hardy for just one season, then this guy is a possibility, but I think he goes mid second.

what if we are looking at a draft day trade of Hardy instead of renting him for 1 year? we need additional picks and cap room. we have looked at several DE's and we just signed one. Not that I am in favor of it but just saying DG might be preparing for all different kind of things. If a team would go crazy he would have done his preparation for the situation. Just a thought.

Lotta interest in DEs considering the talent we have at the moment.

If I am the GM, I want to develop a first year contract DE so he is not a rookie when he has to start.  So I draft one this year, knowing he will start in 2015.

If I am the GM, I give Hardy another year before I lock him into a big contract.  See how he responds to money and the limelight.  He is delightfully strange.  If he gets 8.5 sacks in 2014, his long-term contract gets cheaper.  If he balls, then it is a good sign that he is worth the huge mega-deal.  Gettlemen probably knows that means shopping or cutting CJ.  I think that is why his deal was not re-worked this spring--Gettlemen knows he is going to have to choose. Like Sophie's Choice, sorta.

And who is the CJ clone in the draft?

We have come full circle.
