Kevin Weidl from ESPN on Morgan Moses

He's about the same weight as Smitty when he was drafted, and an inch taller.

He's also got about 10 pounds on DeSean Jackson, someone whom the vast majority would call a "#1 receiver".

There are others whom I do believe can indeed be number ones, but Cooks to me was the most glaring omission.

Again how many Smitty's and Jackson's are there?

Like I said, out of the top 20 WRs last year only 3 were under 6ft.

I am not banking on someone like that being a number legit number 1. Yes its possible but the numbers and odds are not in our favor.

Ive been watching film on Moses and Kouandjio for a few hours and Moses is a lot more impressive. Moses doesn't have the WOW blocks Cyrus has every now and then, but he is a lot more consistent. I wouldn't mind Moses in the 1st but that would mean we would need to take a wr in round 2 and 3 imo

Really? I actually think Cyrus's feet are a bit more quicker.

I'm not really a big fan of small receivers either, especially in our current scheme.

But I've seen enough of Cooks that if he's the pick at 28 (assuming he lasts that long) I'll be fine with it.

can compare Moses and Cyrus against the same D here

Cyrus seems to do a better job in pass pro. Moses seems to get pushed back closer to qb

Alabama was getting rid of the ball much faster than VA but I agree Cyrus was not giving up anything and seemed more dominating..

I have read where  many scouts including Mayock and Weidl that do not have a clue how to rate Cyrus. I know it is still early but that indicates inconsistent play.

I know we had a private visit with Moses but from what I read we did not even have a coach at the 2nd Alabama pro day to observe Cyrus and we have not had a private visit with him. That could change though.

Cyrus has done a very poor job of marketing himself ......first at the combine and for not participating in the 1st and biggest Alabama pro day. I can understand why so many scouts consider him an enigma.

From the scouting reports on Moses .He was only a LT for one year but as Weidl pointed out he was improving every game as opposed to Cyrus that was dominating at times and other times he was beat badly.

I know they get the ball out quicker but look at how Moses fades backwards towards the QB and pocket where as Cyrus stays deeper and keeps a larger cushion.

Lord, that 6'6 frame on Kouandjio makes him look like a monster.

310 is average weight for a left tackle, but still a lot to put on an iffy knee.

Medical reports will be a big deal for him.

The redeeming grace is he is all muscle. So maybe it will hold up better than usual.

McShay's Mock 4.0 came out two days ago. He has us taking OT Joel Bitonio (Nevada) at 28. He had Morgan Moses going at 18 to Dolphins

"Bitonio has the potential to fill the void at left tackle for Carolina, and worst-case scenario he could kick inside to guard and become an outstanding interior lineman. He is a bit top-heavy, but he has surprisingly good movement skills, plays with an edge and battles for a full four quarters every game (he completely shut down Anthony Barr, pushing him around most of the game)."

    • He should have been fired for wearing that hat alone.
    • I get what you're saying. These couple of wins are virtually meaningless because half this team isn't going to be here next year. We have a serious lack of talent all over and being able to trade away the 1st for what we gave up to Chicago could go a long way towards adding premier pieces the next couple of years. A couple of 1sts or a 1st swap with a couple 2nds and 3rds could let us add premium talent at certain positions.  I like what we're seeing from Bryce but I want to see more across a full season. I don't know if he is or isn't the guy. This will be an interesting off season but I'm not ready to declare we're playoff bound after going 5-12 with wins over teams with god awful defenses.  I think he deserves to be the #1 QB for us going into camp, but we still need competition because we should always be trying to improve the position and we're 1 hit away from career changing injury (see Cam).
    • Will be real close as to who ends up 7th and 8th between us and the Jets, no idea how each of the remaining games will affect the SOS, but as of right now we're separated by .002 in the SOS. EDIT:  Looks like the KC/Denver game going final increased our SOS advantage by another .002, so right now we have a .004 lead on the 7th pick, but not about to do the math on the remaining few games to see how it changes things.
