Kevin Weidl from ESPN on Morgan Moses

Sounds smart if you ask me.  Long Arms, good feet, not much power in run blocking, but Gross was not a beast in that area either.

Do you pass on Cooks or Beckham or Lee to take Moses?

Here is another question--If Moses moves up boards, do you take Zack Martin over the guys mentioned above?

I am not a big fan of Lee due to his durability but passing on Beckham or Cooks is going to really suck.

Zack Martin is a good player but someone needs to decide if he is a guard or LT. If I am passing on Cooks and Beckham I would expect a hell of a tackle.

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, a former NFL scout, heard from a general manager recently that he didn't expect Martin to be there at No. 19 when the Dolphins selected.

"I talked to a general manager the other day," Jeremiah said Thursday on a conference call to discuss the draft, "and his name came up, Zack Martin, and he asked me what I thought. I said I don't see how Miami could pass on him. He's too clean.

"And he said he doesn't think he'll be there when they pick at 19."

here is the opinion of a guy that worked with Gettleman for four years with the Giants (from 1998-2001)

Greg Gabriel is a veteran of 29 NFL seasons. He started as a part time scout with the Buffalo Bills in 1981. In 1984 he became an area scout for National Football Scouting and then was hired by the New York Giants in 1985. Gabriel was with the Giants for 16 seasons. In 2001, Gabriel left New York to become Director of College Scouting for the Chicago Bears for nine seasons. He also spent six years on the NFL College Advisory Committee.

on April 8, he rated his top 5 offensive tackles (not top 5 OL, his top 5 OT) as

1) Greg Robinson

2) Jake Matthews

3) Taylor Lewan

4) Zack Martin

5) Cyrus Kouandjio (about his knee he wrote: "It was reported during the combine that Kouandjio may have flunked some medical exams. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen. I do know one thing. All 32 NFL teams do not look at a medical report the same way. One club could red flag a player, while another club could give the same player a good-to-go rating off of the exact same information.)

then today, he released a mock draft having Robinson, Matthews and Lewan all going Top 5 overall. Then he had the next two OTs going:

19 – Miami Dolphins – Zack Martin – OT

There have been reports of late that the Dolphins may look at Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio. I’m not buying it...Martin is about as consistent as they come (whereas in his April 8 piece, he pointed out that Kouandjio is inconsistent: "2012, his first year as a starter, he played excellent football. ... in 2013, Kouandjio did not play as well...he was not as good when in pass protection but he still showed dominant run blocking ability.")

28 – Carolina Panthers – Cyrus Kouandjio – OT

The Panthers have a need at tackle and wide receiver. If Kouandjio's knees weren’t a problem, he would have been drafted earlier. How serious the problem is, I don’t know, but if the Doctors pass him, he is a great pick at this point of the draft.

Everything I've read had Martin as a Guard. I'd gladly take Moses, Bitinio or Cyrus IF the knee checks out.

the deal with Martin is the same deal with Bitinio and Gross - OTs in the body of an OG (height too short, arms too shorts, not as big and strong as you want...see my post a little earlier in the thread comparing measurements of the prospects).

for this reason, some people think Martin and Bitinio would be better off moving to OG in the NFL

for example, senior editor for Pro Football Weekly Nolan Nawrocki is the guy that has been writing the scouting reports for NFL.com (he wrote 500 of them for this draft alone). Per his own bio, he played LB and S in college, then went to work as a writer for Pro Football Weekly that "spends the majority of his time evaluating college and pro talent, working the phones tirelessly to gather information"

Yesterday he released his Big Board of his top 50 prospects. He has Zack Martin at #16, writing "dependable college left tackle whose length dictates a move inside." And he had Bitonio at #38, writing "an undersized college left tackle who projects best to the inside in the pros."

As for OTs, he had five of them on his Top 50 prospects:

2. Greg Robinson

4. Jake Matthews ("capable of playing all five positions on the line...Matthews' best position might even be center.")

12. Taylor Lewan

42. Cyrus Kouandjio ("Massive, long-limbed, inconsistent, overhyped college left tackle whose sheer dimensions, raw tools and high ceiling are far more appealing than his snap-to-snap performance at this stage of his development.")

45. Ja'Wuan James ("Big, strong, heavy pass protector with good balance, anchor strength and hand use to handle power and speed. Does not affect the run game the same way and almost appears more destined for the left side in the pros.")

Not in his Top 50 prospects: Moses

Don Banks released his newest mock for Sports Illustrated today

Panthers took Moses at 28 over Kouandjio

"Unfortunately for the Panthers, the first-round cornerback market has been picked clean at this point, and while wide receiver is a need, there are several quality wideouts who can be had in the second and third rounds. Carolina's best move is to find a starting offensive tackle at the bottom of the first round, and Moses' stock has been steadily on the rise thanks to an impressive 2013 and solid pre-draft work."

Todd McShay released a new mock draft 4 days ago, with OT Morgan Moses going #12 overall to the Giants

all 32 picks here

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2040926-todd-mcshay-nfl-mock-draft-2014-surprises-from-espn-experts-personal-picks

McShay wrote:

"Guys who don't like him as much (as I do) focus on the fact that he underachieved early in his career, but he has matured a lot...his tape in 2013, when he played left tackle, was much more impressive than his 2012 tape, when he was playing right tackle. Pass-rushers need to take a cab ride to get around his length."

McShay's mock moves Moses ahead of Zach Martin among OL guys.  On the BPA front,  it sets him ahead of  players like Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham, Justin Gilbert and both Bridgewater and Manziel among others.

Granted anything is possible in the Draft, but I have a tough time buying into that notion.
