Jason Verrett worked out for Carolina

Deep means we can get what we need at WR to upgrade the O with out drafting one in the first 2 rounds. In fact we can get 2 in later rounds. CB needs to be addressed in the first 2 rounds to make any impact on a otherwise weak secondary. Now we can end the discussion.

We're currently deep at wr but what we don't have true elite wr which only will come in the first because we pick to late in the second. Like I said before our defense is just fine but the offense needs to catch up. Like I said before the type of corner we need can easily be found in late rounds. Corners that can do both man and zone usually go in the first. Our scheme is usually zone. cb can definitely wait till the third round anything before that is not necessary and I'm sure Cam would agree

Do you really want to reach on Moses, OBJ, Matthews, etc. when you have a day one starter in Verrett on the board. You gotta get immediate starters, NFL ready guys in one, can't.reach for position, reach for need in 2 and 3

I don't see any of the three you listed as reached. All 3 would be week 1 starters.

I think the "big men" comment was a reference to the line of scrimmage, not the height of skill players.

It's both. Gettleman talked about Seattle's secondary and how their size won them a superbowl in reference to that quote.

Cam has nothing to do with where the Panthers draft any position. I think with the emphasis on ball control on Offense an elite WR is not imperative. I think  we will wait and get what we need at WR in the later rounds. our Defense is not just fine it needs to move forward to take the next step towards a Championship and that can only happen if we improve the secondary namely at CB.The type of corner available in late rounds are the type we already have, backups. We ahve the depth atCB now we need some starter talent.the talent level that we need drops off by the 3rd round. it would be wasted picks to take corners later than the second round unless one of the top guys falls way down the ladder.dding what we already have is a waste of draft picks. It is the depth at WR that says we can wait on them.

I stopped reading after the first line. So I'll just agree to disagree

If Lee falls to us it will be hard to pass him up. A healthy Lee is on Par with Watkins IMo. If the coaching doesn't feel a OT is BPA in the 1st & Verrett is there we would be dumb not to take him. Most people complaints is just about his size when it should be about his tape kid can flat out play. If my memory serves me correct tyrann mathieu is smaller, missed football for a whole yr & balled out his rookie season. Verrett has the same upside & would probably be the #1 CB if it wasn't for his size. I would love a draft where we take Verrett in the 1st & Joyner in the 2nd. Talk about another kid that just makes plays Joyner is a beast. OLine is the biggest need hands down, but if BPA happens to fall on those 2 players I would love it.

I personally think Verett & Joyner can play anywhere in the secondary.Especially Joyner who would be better served as a Safety since he can lay one hell of a hit. Getting 2 versatile players like that would only make are D that much scarier. Having a secondary that matches your front 7 in talent & mentality would be huge.
