For whatever you think of Harper...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

If Harper plays at the level that I'm hoping he can, and if he can help mentor some of our younger guys a bit, I'll be more than pleased. For somebody so excited to be here, AND have fellow teammates tweeting him with the same level of enthusiasm at having him on the team, that bodes well for us.

And he already knows the philosophy. Keep Pounding.

Yes someone who's been a fan since he started watching football (2001) is obviously only a player fan and stuffs. It's no secret Captain is my favorite player but it's only for his college resume hence why it says SC...and has the number 1 .. He was my favorite player the first year I watched the gamecocks when he was a freshman. He to me = steve smith to others. But the same people that are pissed off about steve leaving that are still here because they like the team also catch less slack than I do. I routinely get other peoples BS about this username.

I wish only for a player who's hated by 90% of this board to never play and potentially be cut for nothing as being arrested gets us out of a contract if it's bad enough. Him quite literally replacing Captain and having his number and all (Yes I know he had 41 first.. but not here)is just fuel to my fire just the same for me as if Cotchery were to whip out 89 this year for others.

Then there are those that don't like him but are mature enough to want him to become a good player for us because that will only benefit the team. That would be better for us than acting like a pubescent little girl and wanting him to fail, putting us in a hole at safety, just because he hurt your feelings.

Cracks me up how opposing fans chime in when one of there guys signs here to play. It's like an ex girlfriend telling the new girlfriend why the guy is not suitable for her....

I think we all realize Roman Harper has issues in coverage and we all realize he probably will look bad at times out there.

It's the fact that he is from a division rival, has made pro bowls, and we like the talent we see in him behind our front 7.

If we regret signing him so be it, but I'm glad Roman Harper is on our side now.

I'm not butt hurt at all, you're just terribly annoying.  I was having a normal conversation about a disagreeable topic. Whoa! Welcome to life!

Then you chimed in and it went down hill. Maybe you should refrain from posting until you can learn how to discuss things like an adult?

Btw, this is why it's usually better to just lurk for information.  Avoids dealing with people like you, who lack reason. I'm sure you're a joy to be around at work and in social situations.

You are not butt hurt but find a simple comment, I made terribly annoying?  If it bothered you so much that is what butt hurt means.  And anyone who can get terribly annoyed over someone saying your logic is stupid has a pretty thin skin.  And if you are avoidng me then why keep responding?  Avoiding someone on the internet means not responding to comments, not going back and forth telling them not to post.

Like before your logic makes no sense and you just keep proving it.

Speeding is illegal so its as bad as rape or murder to use your example?

Guess those speedsters(aka everyone) are piss poor human beings with questionable morals and values.

Unless of course speeding isn't actually as bad of an illegal action as rape/murder....

And before the whole "different punishments for different crimes" predictable comeback ensues....yea there are different flags(or fines or suspensions)for different "dirty plays".

So....yea I think your example doesn't work.

I don't know why I try to explain these kind of things to concrete linear thinkers like you but here goes.  You didn't use my example you totally took it out of context.  For example using the rape and murder scenario which I already stated was using extreme examples were generally consistent given they were both capital crimes not speeding which isn't even a misdemeanor. Obviously rape while heinous is not as heinous as murder thus justifying one by saying it is not bad as the other is faulty logic.  In your example of speeding, you could have compared speeding to eluding the police by taking them on a high chase to avoid being arrested.  Both involve speeding but one is not as bad or as dangerous as the other.  So you would not justify speeding by saying for example at least I was going on a high speed chase to avoid whatever. That was the point.

Secondly equating an act like speeding which sometimes may be intentional but other times could be related to not paying attention to your surroundings or in one case for me was rushing to the hospital to evaluate a suicidal patient, with an intentional act designed to hurt someone albeit at any level again makes no sense. In order to make a comparison you have to have equivalent acts with one being more serious than the other and both sharing a thread of comparison which your whole argument lacked.

And no I am not comparing speeding to rape or murder and I not comparing intentionally pushing or hitting someone from behind with rape or murder. That is why I am saying you are linear and concrete.  You can't abstract from one situation to another.  But don;t feel alone I suspect I will get a few replies as well talking about how they are not the same as if I thought they were.

For those of you who are literal try this one.  His response was like justifying Harper's behavior by saying at least it wasn't as bad as the head stomp that Suh did as if that makes it alright.  Both were intentional and dirty just one was worse than the other.  One does not justify the other.  I hope that was concrete enough for those who haven;t reached formal operational stage thinking yet.

I disagree with this. If the guys sucks and then he sucks. I am not saying that about Roman Harper, but if Saint fans truly feel that then ok. I would have no issue letting Viking fans know how absolutley terrible Captain Munnerlyn is. If they were to ask I wouldnt lie just to not sound like sour grapes.

I'm not going to go post on Vikings boards though on how bad captain was for us..it's silly.

I about posted on ravens board regarding Steve Smith and his drops last year and the fact that he's not a number one anymore...not sour grapes, the truth, but ravens are lucky to have him.
