Not really, because it would still be a jackass thing to do and possibly a critical penalty. Drill them legally or right at the whistle all day long, but no room for BS like what he pulled.

Disagree. That was blatant and completely intentional. Julius Peppers' hit on Rodgers a few years back or possibly even Cannon's leg-whip on CJ fall into the 'stuff happens' category, but Harper's falls into the completely intentional 'gigantic douchebag' category, similar to Cameron Wake popping Cam in the mouth last year. Not meaning to be a Panthers homer here but those are the examples I can think of at the moment.

 

 

See, that's where I disagree. I think plays like Cannon's leg whips are the dirty ones. Those plays can end someone's career.  Roman's late hit on Smith was never going to come close to doing that. I'm not being a Panthers homer, just don't find plays like Roman's to be near as bad. There are way worse plays in football.

Saying that sure it is dirty but not as dirty as........  is like justifying raping someone by saying hey it isn't as bad as murdering someone.

I agree 100% that things like leg whips or intentionally rolling up on a guy are incredibly dangerous and have no place in the game, but in sticking with this example a leg-whip can happen in the moment. If a guy does it once I *might* give him the benefit of the doubt, but hitting someone two or three yards deep in the endzone is intentional and dirty. The intent is irrelevant because the action itself is so blatant.

Why don't you join the Vikings board? You clearly are more of a player fan than team fan. Wishing ill on a player that will leave the team weaker at the position is stupid. I don't like Harper either, but the only thing we can do is hope he can help out our secondary.

 

  Yes someone who's been a fan since he started watching football (2001) is obviously only a player fan and stuffs. It's no secret Captain is my favorite player but it's only for his college resume hence why it says SC...and has the number 1 .. He was my favorite player the first year I watched the gamecocks when he was a freshman. He to me = steve smith to others. But the same people that are pissed off about steve leaving that are still here because they like the team also catch less slack than I do. I routinely get other peoples BS about this username.

 

   I wish only for a player who's hated by 90% of this board to never play and potentially be cut for nothing as being arrested gets us out of a contract if it's bad enough. Him quite literally replacing Captain and having his number and all (Yes I know he had 41 first.. but not here)is just fuel to my fire just the same for me as if Cotchery were to whip out 89 this year for others.

Justifying dirty behavior by saying it isn't as bad as it could be is comparable to justifying one illegal act by comparing it to another.  Sure I might be using an extreme example but the logic is comparable.  If you don't want others to comment or criticize then either keep lurking or grow a thicker skin.
