We signed DeCoud!

Great signing.  I definitely believe last year was an anomaly.  He's not the best FS in the league, but he's probably top 10 which makes him WAY better than anything we've had in the secondary other than Gamble for a long time.

was going to post the same thing..  having so much turnover, to get this much experience within the division and of their former teams should provide a huge boost to any learn curve..

Realistically, what are we missing on defense now?

DT: Star, KK, Dwan, Cole, and possibly Gaydosh- all make up a really good group.

DE: Kraken, CJ, Big Frank, and Addison- probably make up the best defensive end corp in the league.

LB: Luke, TD, Klein, Blackburn, and Williams- are all talented in their own ways; might need another backup.

S: DeCoud, Harper, Lester, Jones- should be as good as the product we had last year.

CB: Cason, Dockery, White, Thomas, Godfrey (assuming he is moved to nickel and isn't cut)- not an awful group; could be better.

Based on this, we really just need another starting corner and another solid backup linebacker in my opinion.

However, if we cut Godfrey; we'll need a nickel back as well.

You guys truly are amazing. Last month there were 57 threads titled "FUG YOU GETTLEMAN!!" Now, he's nothing but praised for being patient and finding cheap guys late, after not over spending a few weeks ago.

Not sold on the safety group if Godfrey is moved to nickel. Either sign a nickel or another safety (and move Godfrey to nickel)

Can't cut Godfrey until he is medically cleared w/o injury settlement. Would expect to bring him to TC and see how achilles responds before restructure or cut.

Is this really a good thing? Wasn't he garbage last Year? Not being a pessimist, I truly don't know this guy.

 

Pass rush (or lack of it) can make or break a DB.

 

Cason, Decoud and Harper with our front 7?! Dare I say.. Dream team?

 

I wouldn't go that far.

 

Solid vets behind a great front seven, though?  That'd be accurate.

Because we have the best front 7 in the game and the fact that he was a Pro Bowler on a below average Falcon defense shows he can definitely be one again behind our front 7.
