NFL Draft is a month out and I still have no Idea who we're looking at?

Don't remember if they traded up or not.  I do remember everyone logged on this board saying collective "WTF"s through pretty much the entire first round

I'd love to see the Draft go down like that again.

Yea, they traded up but they didn't give up much.  From what I recall, it was a LOT less than teams usually give up to move into the top 3 from around 8 or 9 or wherever they were.  I think it was a 4th, but I'm not certain.

This is a confession:

I look forward to the draft more than anything all year.

I enjoy watching the draft more than any other sporting event not related to the Panthers.

I do not play fantasy football because I am afraid it will cause a conflict of interest.

I get genuinely nervous when we are about to select a player.

I watch all seven rounds.

Happiest Draft moment?  When we selected two USC boys by trading down (Kalil, Jarrett).

Worst draft moment?  When I heard "Armanti Edwards"

We need both. I would put OL >>> WR

But you cant fill out both position this year. You got 2 big holes and 1 big patch in the form of a first round pick. DG got a bunch of tape to fix the WR hole and I am going to assume he is going to use his big patch on the OL. Hogmollies!

Oh no doubt we need both in a bad way.  I just think we can get better return on our investment with a 1st round WR, 2nd round OT and a 3rd spent on either.

OBJ/KB(pending this recent "scandal")/Matthews/Cooks + Billy Turner/Cyrus + Landry/Adams/Moncrief/Coleman/Mewhort/Hurst/Bitonio >>>>>> ....Moses? + Landry/Adams/Robinson/Moncrief/Coleman + Mewhort/Hurst/Bitonio/whatever 3rd roundish WR we didn't take in the 2nd

In my opinion we can definitely fill two holes solidly in the 1st and 2nd this year.  Maybe even 3 with either a #1 and #2 WR and a LT or LT, RT and #1/2 WR.

My reasonable dream is OBJ + Turner + Coleman and take a gamble on Henderson in the later rounds.  That's 2 definite starters, a probable 3rd in Coleman and a possible starter at some point in the season in Henderson (he could quit halfway through the game as he supposedly did at the pro day and still be better than Bell).

then that would go both ways as some are quick to credit him as the reason they were successful in previous years. The point being you can't take too much from what happened in NY as indicative of what he will do or how successful he will be.

Dude that is how you determine how you hire a guy. Based on experience and credentials. He has a ton of both. This man eats and sleeps football.

He entered the NFL in 1986 as an intern for theBuffalo Bills.[1] He spent the next seven years working in their scouting department before leaving to accept a scouting job with the Denver Broncos after the 1993 season. In 1998 he was hired by the New York Giants, who promoted him to Pro Personnel Director the next year. In 2012 he was given the title of Senior Pro Personnel Analyst, and in January 2013 he was chosen to become the General Manager of the Carolina Panthers.[2] Overall, Gettleman has been a part of eight Super Bowl teams, including three winners.

I mean just look at that body of work. It is hard not to respect something like that.

They will probably go BPA based on possition of need, you dont draft another star QB just because he's the best player on the Board.

I didn't say a qb! But possibly a DE even though we already pay two guys very well, or even another DT though we double dipped last year, I'm saying that if those positions are best available gettleman will draft them.

and this here genttlemen is a fine example of someone "Missing the Point" the QB was an example of why teams dont actually go straight BPA regardless of position. it's a fan made myth

I would like for us to draft the best WR available with the 28th pick in the first rd and select OT Billy Turner if he is still on the board when we pick in the 2nd rd.

NorthDakotaState_logo.gif Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 316.
40 Time: 5.16.

Turner received a ton of awards over his four seasons at North Dakota State. He was a 4-year starter and dominated his level of competition. Turner was put to the test at the Senior Bowl and held his own against much better competition. He showed some strength and athletic ability to develop in the NFL. Turner did well at the Combine and helped himself.
