idk how d will was the problem for smith getting cut or not signing nicks to that affordable contract..................we had the cap to sign nicks we didn't,not d will's contracts fault not any players contract fault, lafell should have walk ginn maybe would have liked to seen him back but his production as a wr can be replaced.

Not a cap decision? He was scheduled to make $7 million next year and and $9 million the year after that.....If you think that paying $16 million dollars over the next two years to a 35/36 year old player didn't play a major factor into the decision - then more power to you.

he wasn't ask to take a pay cut or restructure is the reason i said that,it had more to do with the leadership thing then money........at least that's what they told the public

I see your point......Smith stated publicly that he wouldn't accept a pay cut so that may be why he wasn't asked. I hated to see him go and wish the whole situation was handled better. As much as I loved Smith being a Panther, he simply wasn't worth what he was getting paid in the upcoming years. This is just my opinion but I think if he was making a more reasonable salary, the leadership stuff wouldn't have been that much of an issue.

i agree, i just find it hard to believe if DG explained the situation that smith wouldn't take a pay cut or restructure. he could have especially used the 12-4 season to convince the older guys in believing in his plan

Judging by Rivera comments and it was definitely money for his production. If this year wasn't so down for him, he'll still be in this roster I believe... or maybe not cause our cap is so fuged

rotoworld...

DeAngelo Williams suggested that he should be a first-round fantasy football pick due to Carolina's weak receiver corps.

"I joked with people that my fantasy value went up after we got rid of our four receivers, but it’s the truth," Williams said. "I went from probably being drafted in the fifth and sixth round to being in the first round, me and Jonathan (Stewart) alike because we have no receivers." We found this more humorous than helpful, but it's a slow news day. Williams rushed 201 times for 843 yards (4.19 YPC) and three touchdowns last season. He turns 31 in two weeks.

williams is either going to redeem himself as a top tier rusher next season...or he's going to reinforce the fact that there are times when he just needs to stfu.
