LSU Pro Day

stirs

Recommended Posts

I don't see how anyone can just dismiss the red flags.  The shine has dulled on Landry.  He was allowed a virtual mulligan after the Combine, but kind of hurt himself at his pro day.

Is Landry's stock slipping?

Between the already questionable draft stock and the fact he didn’t get the numbers he needed at the Combine, Landry likely put an immense amount of pressure on himself to perform well today but choked.

Falling draft stock aside, Landry will still hear his name called, it’s just a matter of when – potentially not until the 4th, 5th or even 6th round depending on how bad scouts took his Pro Day.

I like him as a 2-3 round guy. He may be a first-round caliber guy to some but there's like 10 other guys who get that moniker.

As talented as this receiver crop is, they're not taking up a third of the first round. Some guys - perhaps deserving of a top 32 pick - are gonna fall into the 2-3 round range.

Landry is likely one of them IMO. Wouldn't be mad taking him at 60 but he's found money if he's still there in the third.

I think Landry secured himself as a mid 2nd to early 3rd round pick, leaning much more to mid 2nd.

40 times are overrated unless the guy is like 5'7" running a 4.6. Landry creates separation with solid route running and makes the tough catches with his above average hands.

Is he a #1 WR? No imo. The question then is do we already have enough #3 WR's with a possible #2 WR's to offset the need of someone like Landry.

Problem is, for whatever the reason, he didn't display above average hands during his pro day. He effectively caused himself to drop back to the rest of the pack, and people really have to question rather or not he is really better than guys like Adams, Moncrief or Benjamin, and maybe even Coleman, Bryant or Abbrederis who may be perceived as having a much higher upside. I already posted the guy saying that Norwood is a better version of Landry.

but the tape dont lie. to me he should be taken in the 3rd round. he might not have had the best pre draft process, but again at the end of the day its about what you do on the field on tape. could also explain why he was always in the slot, but he excelled from this spot.

also i know Ricky was in Indiana yesterday and will be at Vandy today, but i hope he gets the chance to head to Baton Rouge to work out the duo from LSU and up to PSU to work out Robinson.

Landry is LaFell 2.0.

Zach Mettenberger had one of the best arms in college football last year, and a line that gave him time to use it.  He made all his receivers look better.  The difference between Landry and OBJ is OBJ also returned kicks, and shows off a good running ability in the open field.

Calling Landry "LaFell 2.0" is just a lazy comparison. Landry has the best hands in the draft. IDC what happened at his Pro Day, he catches the ball with the best of them when the lights are on. His 40 time isn't a huge shock to those who watched him play. He's not a burner. He's a smaller, possession receiver.

I would be ecstatic if we snatched him up in the 3rd or later. He's not a "#1 receiver" but would be awesome in the slot. Grabbing him in the 3rd round would be a good value. Anything after that is a steal.

Excellent points!  The more I youtube (again, I'm just an idiot lost most of us here) him, see the stuff on NFL.com, and read about him, the more I want him in a Carolina Uniform to learn from Avant and Cotchrey.  He's got a great attitude, and showed up in the games.

If he's still there in the 3rd, please someone sprint up to the podium.  Heck, I'll even do some stretches and run it up for the Panthers.  Side note, in this day of electronic media, do they need to still run cards?  Why not just click on his name and hit submit?  Would that make the draft faster?

Remember guys, most scouts say the pro days account for about 5% of their evaluations.  Unless something horrible like an injury happens, the guy won't go from potential first rounder to 5th or 6th rounder.  He did not show up drunk or anything.  2nd round is most likely his spot

Watch the games. Much more concerned with how a guy performs in pads. When Landry puts the pads on he balls. I like OBJ a good bit more, but Landry at 60 would be a very solid pickup.
