your " gelling " idea is an over hyped  myth held by folks who dont realize these guys are all professional athletes.  Once the new guys run a few rutes with cam they will learn one anothers habits.  How many yards did cam pass for with brand new to him recievers his first year?

Why are you even arguing about receivers gelling anyway when you are actively advocating that we move Greg Olsen?

Are we only going by one year?

What about Demarious Thomas his team won a few games.

Greg Olsen is now our #1 target. Here are his last two seasons compared to the #1 target of the last two Super Bowl winners...

Tate- 64 Rec 898 Yd 5 TD

Olsen- 73 Rec 816 Yd 6 TD

Boldin- 65 Rec 921 Yd 4 TD

Olsen- 69 Rec 843 Rec 5 TD

BUT YOU GUIYZ WE AINT GOTS A NUMBER WON WR WE AIN'T GUNNA WIN!!!

Victor Cruz had 1,536 yards and 9 touchdowns when the Giants won the Super Bowl the 2011 season.

Funny how you didn't go back just one more year. That wouldn't fit your little narrative though would it?

Carolina versus the last 3 Super Bowl winners...

Panthers- #2 defense, 800 Yd receiver

Seahawks- #1 defense, 800 Yd receiver

Ravens- #12 defense, 900 Yd receiver

Giants- #25 defense, 1500 Yd receiver

That make you feel better, troll?

But I'm not done. Marques Colston in 2009 with the Saints, 1,074 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Where did your argument go? It seems to have disappeared.

shows you don't need a 1,000 receiver to win it all. we have needs all over. here is how a mock that came out two days ago put it:

"For a team that won their division last year and earned themselves a first round bye, the Panthers sure are a team with a lot of holes. Wide receiver is a massive need for this team with all three starting wideouts from last year gone, including franchise icon Steve Smith. The secondary looks absolutely awful at this point, and they weren't helped out by long-time left tackle Jordan Gross decided to hang up the cleats. Carolina could go any number of different ways in the draft and will decide on whichever player they have highest on their board."

We can't put the whole "this team won the Super Bowl with or without a true #1 receiver" argument in a vacuum because not all teams are built the same.

Baltimore won because Joe Flacco picked a good time to throw like 10 TD's with zero picks. Seattle just won because of their defense. We need to look at teams with success that we most closely resemble, and that would be teams like Seattle and SF.

Our team, not the NFL in a vacuum, does not need a "true #1" because we will win a lot of games 17-10. That's how we're built and I'm fine with that. The Broncos were built to score 50 a game and they got their asses handed to them badly.

Look at Detroit. Stafford throws for 5,000K every year like its nothing and he has the best WR in the game, and yet they still want to go out and trade up to get Sammy Watkins. That's fine because that's how they have built their team. Score 50 and try to prevent the other guys from scoring 51. But reality is that's not us. We need an efficient offense that has long, sustained drives that eat clock and keep the defense fresh. And if you look at the people we have picked up or visited with, they fit that mold.

So arguing on whether or not teams need a #1 is irrelevant, it's not the way this particular team has been constructed.

The Ravens had several factors that helped push them over the hump. Obviously the defense was one.

The other was Flacco playing out of his mind in the postseason. 11 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Greg Olsen is a quality #1 target. People are bitching because we don't have a top 5 elite WR to pair with Cam.

Outside of Jerry Rice & Michael Irvin, how many elite WRs even won a Super Bowl?

And 2 of those 3 teams with a "1,000 Yd WR" had the #20 & #25 ranked defenses.

You moved the goal posts pretty quick, next time maybe go back a few more years? You brought it up.

As Montsta has already pointed out in his post above, regardless, all these teams are built differently. There are many different factors that you have to include. But don't sit there and pretend like a #1 wide receiver is going to hurt our chances for a Super Bowl or something.

Greg Olsen is a TE. You need a legit playmaker at WR. The Ravens had that in both Anquan Boldin, and Jacoby Jones.
