Draft Day Movie

go see it you jaded bastards, it's a good flick.

it has its wonkey moments (the little nerdbag intern they cast for comedic relief is absolutely useless and takes up about three minutes of pointless scenes) but any fan of football should enjoy seeing this portrayal on the big screen. at best the climax is pretty goddamn awesome no matter what your opinion of the rest of the movie is, and at worst it's about the browns, so that lends itself to some funny moments throughout the movie.

panthers references include a poster on the wall of the browns front office featuring the 24-23 final score of the panthers-browns game in 2010 when john kasay bounced the fuging kick off the uprights and lost us the game, which was a knife in the fuging heart because it was the motherfuging browns, but thankfully led directly to our drafting sir cameron newton, who is featured in the photo montage as credits roll.

Yeah but does it delve deeply into the great debate of free will and determinism like any true cinema classic should

Have you see "Robin Hood, Men in Tights"?  If so, Kerry Elwes (I think that is how you spell it)  the actor who played Robin Hood in that movie, takes a cheap shot IN THE MOVIE at Costner.  He looks at the camera and says something like "This Robin Hood has a consistent British accent"

Off the subject, but I randomly ran into Kerry Elwes in the middle of nowhere outside of Seward, Alaska last week.  He's finishing up shooting a movie up there.

He is one of my favorite actors.  Was great in the classic, Princess Bride (one of the best movies of all time, imo)

Yoy lie sir....if you didn't like it yoy probably hust don't like the draft and all it's about.

Well, no actually, quite the opposite. And that movie was not what the draft is all about by any stretch of the imagination lol. I just couldn't get past the fabrication, over-acting, and cheesiness. I watched the whole thing because I wanted to see what happened but once again, pure fairy-tale stuff.

But, I suppose that it needed to made a certain way for entertainment value. I just wish it had more of a 'money-ball' feel to it.

I went on Tuesday because my girl wanted to, I didn't think it was bad. However some of the "trades" were completely unrealistic to me. It cost me ten bucks for two tickets and it was worth that. Going on a Friday night I would not have got my moneys worth.

If Gman somehow managed to get the 1st & 6th pick & it only cost us 3 2nd round picks, I would fap.

Alright, I saw the movie. . . I liked it. Obviously, the events would never happen in real life (at least, not between GMs that wanted to keep their jobs), but I expected that. The tension was pretty good.

Now, while I understand that they to get an actress in the movie's top billing to better appeal to a wider demographic, it frustrates me that these type of movies always have to shoehorn some kind of office romance in. Also, the writers always feel the need to validate the female character being in a football movie by having her spout random facts and stats about football to show how "worthy" she is compared to the guys. I don't care about what Jennifer Garner knows about the final drive of Super Bowl XXIII . They could have just kept her as the cap space girl and it would have been perfectly fine.

But those of pretty minor complaints in the scope of things. I paid 7.50 and didn't feel cheated and will probably pick it up for blu-ray when it comes out. It also made me want to play Franchise mode in Madden.

7/10
