If you had read on through you would have seen that JP goes on to say that DeCoud will be visiting the Charlotte Panthers tomorrow... So maybe there's hope.

Unlike Lester and Godfrey, DeCoud has been to the probowl, mainly due to getting turnovers.  DeCoud would be an excellent signing for us, to complete our defense in terms of ball hawking capability.  Mostly DeCoud needs us, and we could use him.  This signing needs to happen right now.

Safeties dont thrive on good defenses. They may get a share of plays but they arent going to show up overrated like Harper who played for a defense with a front 7 that couldnt stop a pee wee league team.

I believe Mike Mitchell thrived behind our defense.  He didn't necessarily get 10 ints, but he did have an excellent season and revived his career.  I believe DeCoud will be even better.
