Wide Receiver Roundup

Zod

Recommended Posts

He was on the roster bro, why he didn't get on the field or get more targets is his own issue. I like Tiquan man that's the sad thing. If you ask him today he will tell you how much he learned from playing with Tom Brady.

What's the point of pointing out that he was on a roster where he got no PT? Can you not infer that Zod meant he's actually going to get a chance to play with a quality QB while playing at his highest level to date in the NFL? It's not an apples-to-apples comparison....period.

So are you saying the Patriots didn't give him that chance? I can buy that, similar to Ginn in San Fran. But he still has to come and put the work in, remember Ginn wasn't suppose to be the number 3 he took it.

I think it was probably more that he wasn't ready.

I not super high on him or anything. I'm optimistic about his progression over the last four years coupled with our QB's ability to make guys look good...like Ginn.

I can buy that, but you can't simply discount the fact he played with Tom Brady. That's not something I'd think Tiquan would want left off his resume.

Imo what makes these signing better and more of a successful endeavor. Is matching these players with the young talent in the draft.

Best case scenario is you draft 1 Wr who is ready to go day one and one who can develop and be ready to start either during this season or starting next season when the older Fa deals end.

Did he or Did he not play with Tom Brady? How many times he was thrown to is irrelevant. We don't know if he will even make the team here, yet you're already saying he will get to play with a legitimate qb for the first time in his career.

You don't get invited to many parties, do you?

Bryant would get by guys and and get fade passes thrown to him regularly...and Bryant would mostly "Drew Carter "everything....flash a huge play and drop a wide open TD.

I just do not trust the guy but that size and speed combo is hard to turn away from.

He sure did look good down the stretch.  A big fast target like Martavis to play opposite a true number one (Marqise Lee?) would be ideal.  Vets like Cotch and Avant as inside glue guys.

That could work nicely.

Sorry, Zod-RR, I have to agree with Boogie on this one. I really can't see discounting Underwood's experience playing on the Pats. I don't see it as a side note. Even if he didn't get on the field, there was a reason why he didn't get on the field and actually play with Brady. That being said, we can all still hold out hope that he has finally progressed to a point where he can take another step in reality, and within the minds of coaches.

Not trying to be funny, but King doesn't have two years of experience. He really doesn't even have a year of experience yet. He has a season of experience. His experience as a pro has been somewhat unsettled coming from Denver's practice squad to never seeing the field on a squad with a suspect receiving corps. That being said, perhaps he will make even more of a leap than Underwood or McNutt.

At this point I think that it's a bit presumptuous to discount/rank any of these guys. I believe they will all get a legitimate chance to compete for a roster spot, and a starting spot, alongside any rookies that we draft. In my opinion, we don't have the luxury to discount anyone.

I have been saying all along that Cotchery is the only lock. As for anyone else, we will see.

I have hope, but I don't feel that there's a need to blow sunshine up people's asses. We have a lot of work to do figuring out the receiving corps, and that includes the draft. I do believe that we can be better than last season though. That may not be saying too much. But we already have better hands.

It's not a knock when a 3rd year 7th rounder gets little playing time behind:

Welker: 122 receptions

Gronkowski: 90 receptions

Hernandez: 79 receptions

Branch: 51 receptions

Woodhead: 18 receptions

Lol all the time, I'll be in Charlotte this weekend actually. I deny most invites so that I can focus on school while also working and raising a toddler approaching her terrible twos. However, I prefer travel.
