I blame Twitter. These guys are expected by their followers to Twitter every minute detail the second it happens. Even if they are good they are spending their time on things that do nothing for their employer.  Basically they use any clout they possibly get from being a member of the media and they give the fruits of it away circumventing their employer. Then when it comes to writing they throw some garbage together just to fill space.

except joe person doesn't tweet out every minute detail the second it happens it's usually a couple days later. His questions are ridiculous, he has no networking abilities and the players hate him. This is the exact opposite of what you want to do as a journalist if you take pride in your job.

 

anybody who has known or has worked themselves in that industry knows Person is a hack and doesn't care about his job. He has no passion for the Panthers or journalism in general.

I'm not defending Person. I'm explaining why I believe Newspapers are screwed and can't pay good writers. The public values heavy Twitter updaters but the Newspapers can't make any money off of that time and effort. Since the demise of print classifieds they are fuged.

In today's world, only few have the time to sit and watch Twitter all day long. Breaking news in today's world is overrated. Differentiating yourself with accurate and interesting information---perhaps from a slightly different angle---is more important. Indeed, with the advent of Twitter, everyone basically breaks news at the same time.

The quality of the content is what matters.

my mother worked as a journalist then an editor for a major newspaper for over 10 years. trust me I know. she would have sleepless nights worried she messed something up.

 

joe person is a disgrace.

 

 

He really is as bad as people here say he is.  Truly terrible in every aspect of the job.
