At this point in time, sure why not.

Watch us not take a WR until the 3rd round (Latimore).

And this would be my problem.

1st Latimor won't be there in the 3rd round.

2nd We've would have wasted a opportunity to grab 2 top guys in the best WR draft in decades. Over a bunch of older Jag FA WR.

There is no rhyme or reason to this off-season if the plan wasn't to go younger and better at the Wr's position. We don't have to go with a bunch of band aides with the deepest crop of WR in years coming from the draft.

(1) OT

(2) CB

(3) WR

I just dont understand why some peg ourselves as "havent gotten better" or "we got worse" as 1) we are months away from a finished roster product and 2) we have yet to see what the offense would be like in action with our players.

Big, tough, possesion WRs would be good for this offense. Whether you like it or not, we have a conservative clock eating offense (which believe it or not yielded 12-4 when paired with our defense, which will be better in 2014)

I believe the players we have persued fit what we are trying to do. We are a defensive team and we feature our defense. Big tall tough and possesion WRs will help with conversions, run blocking, eating clock and in the redzone. And who is to say we dont get our big time WR in the draft? Were not about to roll out fellas.

Even if this is our final roster, again, i believe the players we have fit more with what we are trying to do, for much much cheaper. How is that a stupid thing?

Some of y'all need to take control of yourselves. We haven't signed him yet. Even if we do I see absolutely nothing wrong with having our young guys like Bersin, Mcnutt and King competing with him for a roster spot. If they can't beat out he likes of Jason Avant for a roster spot time to cut them loose. Take a step back from the ledge folks. It's a marathon not a sprint.

We also have a much downgraded offensive line, and receivers. I hope Cam doesn't get broken this year because of it.

Efficient, you mean time of possession? I get that was our only redeeming statistic last year, but it's not that important. Other teams had really good offenses, and really good time of procession. Last season after about week eight our efficiency in the redzone started to suffer. Shula creativity, or lack of, started to show.

Our cap was bad, but made worse by Gettleman franchising Hardy. There were other teams in much worse situations than ours, and arguably had better off-season signings. And our 12-4 record I think was legitmate, and should have been better. I was alluding to others posts about our record being suspect, and that next season we'll take a step back, but only because we shouldn't have been 12-4 in the first place.

You said it yourself that our defense was the reason we went 12-4 and who is a big part of it? Hardy. I have no problem franchising him if our defense keeps teams to 15pts on average.

Would you have used that money to bring back last years WR core? Give me the slightly worse WR group and Hardy.

    • With a night to sleep on it I'm now firmly of the opinion that we keep letting Bryce improve the rest of the season and enter next years camp with 2 new additions to the QB room. One being a new veteran and the other being another rookie QB we can bring along slowly. If Bryce's ceiling is game manager so be it. In that instance it will be majorly beneficial to the team as a whole to have another QB waiting in the wings and use the other as trade bait. But we've got to be smart about this and think ahead. I cannot stress enough that we cannot again sit on our hands with the most important position. Meanwhile we've also been continuing to build up the rest of the roster in the meantime. Then maybe we will be ready to compete for the division and a playoff spot. That is the best path forward for this franchise given where we are and the mistakes we've made that should serve as a learning tool of what not to do.
