NBA Executives Believe Gasol May Land In Charlotte

Recommended Posts

Gasol, though, will have options. A poll of NBA executives on Gasol's future returned many of the same answers: Chicago. Cleveland. Charlotte, if the Bobcats believe a Gasol-Al Jefferson front line can stop anybody. Memphis, if Zach Randolph opts out. Even after a disappointing season -- and with the understanding that Gasol has never been a strap-a-team-on-his-back kind of player -- Gasol will be among the most sought after free agents on the market. His defense isn't all there, but Cliff has worked wonders on Big Al; there's no reason he couldn't do the same with Gasol.

On top of that, Gasol is a very similar player to Cody and Gasol could easily help Cody take his game to the next level.

It will be interesting to see how free agency plays out this year.

I don't think it would to be honest. Gasol has what... maybe two or three years left (I'd offer him a two year deal that way his and Al's deals are up at the same time leaving us with a poo ton of money).

In those two years Cody could learn a bunch from Gasol and then take over as the permanent starter after those two years.

I wouldn't be opposed to throwing a 2 yr/$28 mil contract out there for Pau. He gets 14 a year and the Cats still have $6 mil in cap space to work with so they can re-sign CDR and Pargo plus sign their draft picks and. Personally, I'd package the first and second pick to move up two or three spots to maybe draft a guy like T.J. Warren and then just sign a back-up point guard like Jerryd Bayless.

PG: Kemba Walker, Jerry Bayless, Jannero Pargo

SG: Gerald Henderson, Jeff Taylor, Gary Neal

SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Chris Douglas-Roberts, T.J. Warren

PF: Pau Gasol, Cody Zeller, Josh McRoberts

C: Al Jefferson, Bismack Biyombo, Brendan Haywood

That is a super deep team that could easily be a top four team in the east.

Yeah I would enjoy that lineup, not super hyped on Gasol but if it was 1-2 yr deal I'm ok with it. Would support the Warren pick. Solid scoring option worth a late rd pick. Drop Bayless and give me Hinrich/Sessions in my opinion. Never been a huge Bayless fan

I don't know if we can get Sessions or Hinrich for only $2 mil though.

The Pau Gasol you saw this year would not be the Pau Gasol that the Hornets would be getting.

Pau was considered a top 10 player at his position for the longest time until Dwight arrived in L.A and the two butted heads. This was supposed to be Pau's recovery year but then everyone and their mom got hurt and Pau had to literally strap a team on his back that was running Jordan Farmar at the point until he got hurt.

Pau would be a solid player for Charlotte because he can go back to what he did best... score. Besides Jefferson the Bobcats to not have a legitimate scoring threat and to compete with teams like Miami and Indiana... you need two things, 1) Points and 2) Length. Pau provides both of those things.

Not to mention the fact that Cody would get tutelage from a player that has nearly an identical game him.

Personally, I think Pau would be a great addition to the team as long as he commits to playing both sides of the game (offense and defense).
