First off, the defense missing a lot of key guys and playing its first year in a new scheme held Panthers to 13 and 17 both games, pretty similar performances. Getting rid of some terrible guys like a Smith, Jenkins and Harper and replacing them with guys like Byrd and Bailey while returning injured guys like Butler points to a defense that should have improved.

On offense, the Saints blew out the Panthers D in first game, and moved the ball easily in second game, but the first NFL start of Armstead giving up sacks and penalties directly led to lack of points on 5 different drives during the first half. Those are the same drives that finished for point the first meeting. By second half Armstead was solid and making Hardy irrelevant, just like the benched guy Harris did to Hardy the 1st game in dome.

So far Panthers defense has downgraded and lost its best WR on one of the leagues worst offenses. Not sure it's Saints that need to keep up, but rather Panthers need to keep up with rest of NFCS. The Falcons and Bucs probably won't be easy wins next year.

he's terrible at corner at this point in his career. really he should be moved to safety and he might do OK there but with the Saints signing Byrd and drafting Vacarro in the 1st last year there's no way that's going to happen. giving this guy a $7 million contract to play corner is beyond stupid

Why do I always get the sense that people on this forum evaluate players based on game tape from five years ago?

 

Because that's easier to do than act like we'll make the correct pick in the Draft, and that player will be a world-beater based off college game tape. #cooks

Champ got out played by DRC during his last run and it wasnt even close. He's average at best right now.
