McNabb weighs in on our lack of a threat at WR (via D. Newton)

If this were July then this might be a legitimate concern.  Who says we are done?  If we pick up 2 receivers in the first 4 rounds then have we addressed the position or not?  Are we better off or not?  I understand the discussion about Smith but lets be honest, people are talking about the Smith in his prime not the one last year.  We are talking about replacing roughly 700 yards now if you take what we lost and include what Cotchery and Underwood contributed.  That ignores any of the other guys like King and McNutt.

I can definitely see a concern if we don't do more but I am confident that we will.

I'm just gonna throw this meaningless post up here to up my post count (like so many others) and say..."there are some crazy mofos around here"

If we are relying on rookies to "spring" us and Newton so to speak...then we are basically laying our cards on luck and a hope that the few rookies at WR we draft will pan out.

Id like to have at the very least ONE proven and capable vet

I agree with McNabb, but he didn't even mention or bring up our o-line issue. I bet you anything he'd rather have a solid o-line and nobodies at wideout than a porous o-line and a guy like Green or Jones. We need both, that's true, but I think LT should be priority... If there isn't one at 28 worth taking though then we gotta go WR.

T.Y. Hilton is not a no-name receiver.  He was known to football circles at FIU.  He was explosive and productive in college, and he flashed that play making ability his rookie year in the pros.  He flat out broke out last season.  I was wishing that we had drafted him when we picked whoever in the 3rd round.  We missed out on him.

Had we gotten him in 2012 like I wanted to, and drafted Keenan Allen last season like I thought we would, our receiving corps would be very formidable .  Those are two of my biggest regrets in regards to the Panthers. And yeah, I know how we missed out on Demaryius Thomas and Alshon Jeffery, but they weren't on my radar at the time.

Damn, you got me crying over spilled milk.  I don't want to go down the same path next off-season.

We didn't have a 3rd round pick in 2012. It was traded away the year before for Olsen.

And listen to me very carefully, the draft is next month and the season doesn't start until September. We are far from knowing who will even be suiting up at WR for us next season, so to be bitching now makes you look pretty fuging silly.

But is that not putting Gettleman against his on philosophy? Plug holes im FA so you can draft BPA? Now every other team knows how bad we need WRs.

Look guys, lafell and gin sealed their fate when they couldn't catch the wide open, uncontested passes that were dropped into the bread basket last season. The ones that would have been big time plays. It showed they are not big time players. We will put receivers on the field with good hands or they will be gone.

It depends on who we draft and how they play out. I think the issue here is having to rely on unproven players so heavily. No chemistry, no continuity, just banking on potential.

You talk about playing madden? That's essentially what Gettleman is doing, just plugging in guys at WR hoping they fit.

I keep forgetting that. But we did have two fours that year. The dreaded 49ers may have been willing to trade with us.

Every time I see him (I can't help it) I think about how I had him on my radar for months and that we should have had him.

Even if they had signed Nicks and Decker the same would have been true regarding chemistry,

People need to shut their mouths and let Gettleman do his job. He is not retarded he knows we need "touchdown scorers" he has said it from the beginning. We didn't have the money to make huge free agent splashes. I am thankful for him being able to  get Cotchrey who will be a great leader to all the young receivers. We are without a doubt going to get 1, 2, or maybe 3 WRs in the draft. We will be okay.

Who dropped that beautiful ball in the pro bowl? The one Cam put right in his hands on the deep ball. Maybe his fate is sealed as well.

Ginn balled out last year, especially in clutch moments. He worked hard, those are the guys you want on your team.
