McNabb weighs in on our lack of a threat at WR (via D. Newton)

I am sure some Skins fan was making a sarcastic remark about McNabb's comments about RGIII being the media darling, all full of himself. The thing is, McNabb was spot on.

He is probably spot on here as well.  Thank goodness we have the draft in order to "fix" our receiving corps before his "warning" turns into reality.

Anybody could have told you RGknee was full of himself. It was obvious. Just because McNabb said it doesn't mean his opinion carries any weight.

I understand, but it seems like DM and others in the media think we can just get anybody we want at the moment. It gonna take time to fix the Hurney Hell we are in and they don't remember that  or don't want to remember.

I am not a conspiracy buff at all, but it seems like the media wants Cam out of Carolina and they will repeat this crap until he is gone.

I don't think that McNabb or D. Newton wants Cam to leave Carolina.  I could be wrong, but I think that both of them want what's best for the team.  I just think that as fans they are concerned (granted that Mcnabb is more a fan of Cam than Carolina).  The good thing is that we can do something with the draft, and I feel that if we make a concerted effort to get Cam legit weapons at wide-out as opposed to just philosophizing about the BPA, then McNabb and all other Cam/Carolina fans will approve.

It has been too many years---and that's now without the glue that held a semblance of our WR corps together for the last few years.

No excuses!  Get Cam some legit weapons this time.

He also said as soon as the Redskins struggle there would be anonymous comments coming out about work ethic and stuff like that from the Shanahan clan.  He said Shanahan would turn on RG3 like a bad nickel. That being said, McNabb had a good career even without T.O.   The year he had T.O. they went to the SB.  Eagles had good to great defenses most of McNabb's career.  Cam is talented enough to win without a stud #1 WR.  He will just be better when he gets one.  However the team as a whole has to fix some stuff before that happens.

If that was the case, then why did McNabb get mocked in the media and on message boards for wanting to have a sit-down with RG3?

Dude, you should read this to refresh your memory.  And that is not even the original story, this is a gracious McNabb reaching out a second time, after he had warned Griffith the first time.

He has some valid points.

Agreed, and I'm in the "let Gettleman do his thing" camp. I understand we are cap strapped, but at the same time, we need help in the WR position something fierce. Maybe he knows something about mcnutt and king that we don't, but I'm not holding my breath. I've said before my biggest fear is that cam gets McNabbed due to lack of a supporting cast.

i actually respect mcnabb's opinions especially after the rg3 thing where i thought he was right from the beginning and he got completely bashed for it.

that said. these statements are obvious. we are retooling on offense. who did we have? smitty (coming up on the twilight of his career and his value didn't match what he was making), brandon lafell (ok could be a solid #3) and ted ginn jr (who blossomed this past year but got a heavy pay raise).

we are going to draft weapons for Cam. i've said this plenty of times before. Cam was drafted to an old team with old and bad contracts. We have been in transition since Rivera got here. Defense is set with pieces. This is just the way things shook out with the cyclical nature of the NFL. I'm worried about this coming year but thats pretty much it. I don't know why people think that Gettleman doesn't think Cam is an otherworldly talent. He is a talent evaluator, of course he thinks Cam is special.

How many times did they win the NFCC game before TO came and helped them over the top?

it all depends on the ceiling people find acceptable. is it just enough to  get there or do we want to give cam and this team the tools needed to get over the top.

people have been making a whole hell of a lot of excuses and squirming for justifications as to how we're just fine and its not that big of a deal  but the truth is we've done a piss poor job of giving cam the tools he needs for us to excel.

what we had last year wasn't great, but what we're doing so far this year is take a serious few steps backward and it's going to bite us in the ass unless gettleman takes this seriously and gets him some help....and not this scrap heap type poo he's been chasing after either. if he's not going to get him what he needs in FA (which is top end talent) then he needs to get it in the draft.
